Rentner, 83 Jahre alt, ganze Familie betreibt Canyoning (4 Kinder mit Partner, 8 Enkel, auch von letzteren 6 bereits im Canyon unterwegs). Nach Herz-OP im April 2024 nun in 2025 wieder im Canyon zugange (mit derzeit 41 % Leistungsfähikeit der Pumpe). Also "Abschiedstour" vom Canyoning in Raten. Als Ausgleich Mitarbeit hier bei opencanyon.org. Macht mir auch Spass.

Wasserdurchsatz gering, an der Brücke unterhalb des Ausstiegs ist der Bach trocken. In diesem Zustand ist das ein Waldgraben für "Sammler". Hinzu kommt eine optische Verunreinigung schon kurz nach dem Einstieg. Wir haben eine Umsetzung gemacht und sind nach unten ausgestiegen.
Water flow is low; the stream is dry at the bridge below the exit. In this condition, it’s just a forest canyon for “collectors.” On top of that, there’s visual pollution shortly after the entry. We changed our route and exited downstream.

Am Parkplatz gegen 9.00h 14 Grad Außentemperatur, aber Anstieg dann in der Sonne. In der Beschreibung vermisse ich bein Zustieg in den Bach von der Seite die Angabe, welche Seite es sein soll. Wir haben am linken Ufer unterhalb der Brücke (nach eta25m) einen Zustieg gesucht und gefunden. Hier kann man entweder per Sprung ins Wasser oder linkerhand estwas weiter bis zum Felsen zu Fußmin's Bachbett (guter Platz zum Umziehen. Wasser war wärmer als wir befürchtet hatten. Falls jemand die 25m-Rutsche machen will, sollte er er schon vorher für einen Transport in's Krankenhaus Vorsorge treffen. Am Beginndes Anlaufs zum Absprung in den Stausee ist der "Aufschlag"-Bereich nicht einsehbar.
At the parking lot around 9:00 a.m., the outside temperature was 14 degrees, but it warmed up as we accessed the stream from the sun. In the description, I’m missing the detail about which side of the stream to approach from when accessing the stream from the side. We looked for and found an access on the left bank below the bridge (after about 25 meters). Here, you can either jump into the water or walk a little further to the left to the rock at the bottom of the streambed (a good spot to change). The water was warmer than we’d feared. If anyone wants to try the 25-meter slide, they should make arrangements in advance for transportation to the hospital. At the start of the run-up to the jump into the reservoir, the “landing” area isn’t visible.

Begangen im Rahmen des RIC Portugal 2026 in Arouca: Gabi, Rille, Elke, Michael, wolfgang. Viel Betrieb, aber keine Staus an den Ständen. Ausstieg über das Gelände der Sekte (?) war erlaubt, Stahltüre stand offen. Parkmöglichkeiten ziemlich ausgereizt.
Held as part of RIC Portugal 2026 in Arouca: Gabi, Rille, Elke, Michael, Wolfgang. Lots of activity, but no crowds at the booths. We were allowed to exit through the “Sekte” (?) grounds; the steel door was open. Parking was pretty much full.

Vom Parkplatz in einer Spitzkehre bei einer kleinen Holzbar geradeaus leicht abfallend bis man auf den von links unten kommenden Wanderweg trifft. Man folgt diesem nach rechts ansteigend ca 30 Minuten bis man auf eine Brücke trifft. Vor der Brücke links neben dem Bach Trittspuren zum ersten Abseiler mit Sprungmöglichkeit. Am zweiten Abseiler aufpassen beim Sprung. Etwas Aufsteigen und in Richtung des gegenüber liegenden einkaufenden Schwall springen. Der Rückweg führt durch einen Tunnel .
From the parking lot, head straight ahead on a slight downhill slope past a small wooden bar until you reach the hiking trail coming up from the left below. Follow this trail to the right, ascending for about 30 minutes until you reach a bridge. Before the bridge, to the left of the stream, follow the footprints to the first rappel, where there is a possible jump. Be careful when jumping from the second rappel. Climb up a bit and jump toward the converging waterfall on the opposite side. The return route leads through a tunnel.

Beim ersten Sprung Rutschgefahr am Absprung. Relativ angenehmes Geläuf im Bachbett. Achtung auf die bei den Fotos erwähnte scharfe Kante. Bei dem etwas verschachtelten Weg durch den Untergrung war uns der Guide der vor uns laufenden Gruppe hehilflich und ging deshalb extra zu uns zurück. Ihm ein großes Dankeschön!
On the first jump, watch out for slippery conditions at the takeoff point. The terrain in the streambed is relatively easy to navigate. Watch out for the sharp edge mentioned in the photos. On the somewhat winding path through the Untergrung, the guide from the group ahead of us was helpful and even came back to assist us. A big thank you to him!

Nach dem 1. Abseiler langes ermüdendes Gehen im Bachbett. Bei der ersten Brücke (mit 2 Betonplatten) Wasserableitung in kleinem Rohr. Danach kein Wasserdurchsatz. Daher ausgestiegen und auf Wanderweg orograf. rechts des Baches hinunter nach Ermida. Zusammenfassende Feststellung: Griff in's Klo
After the first rappel, a long, tiring walk along the streambed. At the first bridge (with two concrete slabs), water was draining through a small pipe. After that, there was no water flow. So we left the stream and took the hiking trail on the orographic right side of the stream down to Ermida. Conclusion: A total waste of time

Nun, rund 20 Jahre nach meiner ersten Begehung anno 2007 (siehe Fotos u. Video) meine zweite Tour im Fecha. Zustieg wieder auf die bequeme Art mit teilweiser Autoumsetzung (von mir beschrieben in https://www.descente-canyon.com/canyoning/canyon-description/21558/topo.html). Tour problemlos. Beim Ausstieg über den Fluß hinauf zur Straße nach Portugal. Sofortiger Erfolg beim Trampen. Unterkunft in Lobios.
Well, about 20 years after my first ascent back in 2007 (see photos and video), here’s my second trip to Fecha. The access was again the easy way, with a partial shuttle (as I described at https://www.descente-canyon.com/canyoning/canyon-description/21558/topographic view.html). The tour went smoothly. Exit over the river up to the road to Portugal. Immediate success hitchhiking. Accommodation in Lobios.

Am Anfang etwas mühsames Schluchtenwandern. Im weiteren Verlauf 5 sehr gut eingerichtete Abseilstellen. Der 4. Abseiler führt in eine turbulente Gumpe , orografisch links findet man auch einen guten Kettenstand. Nach dem letzten Abseiler wieder etwas Schluchtenwandern bevor man rechts auf den gut sichtbaren breiten Ausstiegsweg trifft.
The route starts with some somewhat strenuous canyon hiking. Further on, there are 5 very well-equipped rappelling points. The 4th rappel leads into a turbulent pool; on the orographic left, there is also a good chain anchor. After the last rappel, there is some more canyon hiking before you reach the clearly visible, wide exit trail on the right.

Zustiegsspur teilweise sehr undeutlich. Abstieg zum Bach quer durchs Gehölz. In der Gravona nach etwa 20 Min. bei Weidezaun links hinaus auf Waldweg und auf diesem eben dahin bis zur Straße. Mitführen einer Gartenschere empfehlenswert.
Access track very unclear in places. Descend to the stream across the wood. In Gravona, after about 20 minutes, turn left at the pasture fence onto a forest path and follow this until you reach the road. It is advisable to carry secateurs.

Einstieg bei der Brücke. Beim unteren Einstieg jetzt Kette am Baum; macht den Abseiler auch für einen alten Mann kommod. Glitschiger als ich es in Erinnerung hatte. Den Schlußabschnitt muß man derzeit über die Gumpen beginnen, da an dem Baum li., von dem man durchseilen konnte - siehe Foto -, keine Bandschlinge (mit Öse) mehr vorhanden war.
Entry at the bridge. At the lower entry now chain on the tree; makes the rappel comfortable even for an old man. More slippery than I remembered. The final section currently has to be started via the pools, as there was no sling (with eyelet) left on the tree from which you could abseil through - see photo.

Wir haben direkt über dem Zustieg (direkt bei der 1. Ruhebank rechts der Gravel Road) das Auto abgestellt. Steiler und rutschiger Abstieg hinunter in das Bachbett. Einstieg oberhalb der Geschiebebremse. Die Geschiebebremse ist auf Eisenbügeln abzuklettern (ca. 10m). Es folgt eine verblockte Passage. Aus Zeitgründen Begehung abgebrochen.
We parked the car directly above the access (directly at the 1st rest bench on the right of the gravel road). Steep and slippery descent down into the streambed. Entry above the slide brake. Climb down the slide brake on iron bars (approx. 10m). This is followed by a blocked passage. The ascent is aborted due to time constraints.

Zu siebt im Canyon. Da einige Rutschen und der Sprung am Ende nicht machbar waren, haben wir dort Haken vermisst. Wegen der nordseitigen Ausrichtung nur selten Sonneneinfall. Mehrere unfreiwillige Minirutschen, da im Wasserlauf sehr glitschig.
Seven of us in the canyon. As some slides and the jump at the exit were not feasible, we missed anchors there. Due to the north-facing orientation, there was rarely any sunshine. Several involuntary mini slides, as the watercourse was very slippery.

Vergleichsweise mäßiger Wasserdurchsatz. Wegen Aufsandung nur wenige Rutschen und Sprünge machbar. Beim Einstieg in die Engstelle am Ende Haken zum Zwischenstand nicht gefunden; also von oben bis in den Spalt mit Dauerdusche abgeseilt.
Comparatively moderate water flow. Only a few slides and jumps feasible due to sanding. On entry to the narrow section at the exit, anchors to the intermediate belay were not found; so rappel from the top down to the gap with a continuous shower.

Achtung...immer wieder Mal etwas rutschig... Oben gibt es 2 Parkplätze vor und hinter der Brücke. Wir haben keinen Haken bei der Stufe unter der Brücke gesehen. Hier kann man auch aussteigen. Wer weiter will orografisch rechts vom Wasserlauf springen. Danach gibt es noch eine Abseilstelle bevor der Bach in den Anza mündet . Hoher Sprung rechts möglich mit etwas vorspringen..
Attention...always a bit slippery... At the top there are 2 parking lots in front of and behind the bridge. We didn't see an anchor at the steps under the bridge. You can also get off here. If you want to go further, jump orographic to the right of the watercourse. Then there is another abseiling point before the stream flows into the Anza. A high jump to the right is possible with a little jumping ahead.

Wenn man auf der Brücke des Wanderweges über dem Isorno ist, ist man zu weit😃 der Weg zum Einstieg ist vor der Brücke zweimal links... Schöner Canyon , Klares Wasser, Tipp.. durch das Loch abseilen.
If you are on the bridge of the hiking trail over the Isorno, you are too far😃 the way to the entry is twice left before the bridge... Beautiful canyon, clear water, tip... rappel through the hole.

Vorweg Hinweis: Die Beschreibungen der Begehungen vom 03.05. und 06.07.2025 betreffen offenbar nicht diesen Abschnitt der Kobelache, sondern - ggf. einen Teil ( "Merlins World) -der der "herkömmlichen" Kobelache. In dieser oberen Kobelache gibt es derzeit nämliche weder Fixseile noch "Pools und Rutschen" (Mehrzahl). einige Haken sind "ausbaufähig". Ausstieg li. hinauf auch schon in einer Rinne vor der Flußknick möglich (zu Beginn trockenes Geröll), aber auch nicht einfacher als auf dem vorgeschlagenen Ausstieg.
Preliminary note: The descriptions of the inspections of 03.05. and 06.07.2025 obviously do not concern this part of the Kobelache, but - possibly a part ("Merlins World") - of the "conventional" Kobelache. In this upper Kobelache there are currently neither fixed ropes nor "pools and slides" (plural). Some anchors are "expandable". Exit left upwards also possible in a chute before the river bend (dry scree at the beginning), but also not easier than on the suggested exit.

Alle Stände OK. Gumpen zugekiest. Keine Sprünge möglich. Vorsichtiges Rutschen war meist möglich. Unterschätztes nettes Kleinod. Achtung .die Metallstruktur ( Edelstahlplatte) gegen Ende orografisch rechts noch vorhanden und war bei diesem Wasserstand gut sichtbar.
All stands OK. Pools covered with gravel. No jumps possible. Careful slides were mostly possible. Underestimated nice gem. Attention .the metal structure (stainless steel plate) towards the exit orographic right still present and was clearly visible at this water level.

Vor dem Schluchtbeginn Wasserrinnsal, das mit dem Anfang der Verengung schnell endet. Schön ausgeschliffener Kalkstein, der sich im Sonnenlicht teilweise in's Rötliche färbt. Mehrere Klemmblöcke. Attraktiver als aufgrund der vorhandenen Infos vermutet.
Water rivulet before the start of the gorge, which quickly exits at the beginning of the narrowing. Beautifully polished limestone, some of which turns reddish in the sunlight. Several clamping blocks. More attractive than expected from the available information.

Bei der etwas heiklen Querung vom Steig in das Bachbett Handlauf angebracht. Haken ok. Überwiegend Sonneneinfall in der Schlucht. Ideale Einstiegszeit wäre insoweit 11.15(Sommerzeit). Totholz bei diesem relativ geringen Wasserdurchsatz kein Problem.
At the somewhat tricky traverse from the climb into the creek bed handrail attached. Hooks ok. Predominantly sunshine in the gorge. Ideal entry time would be 11.15(summer time) in this respect. Deadwood not a problem at this relatively low water flow.

Bei der Stahlseiltyrolienne sollte man sich so weit vom Drahtseil nach unten abhöngen, dass man bei der Ankunft so viel Boden unter den Füßen hat, dass man sich ausbinden kann (Foto). Diesmal sind wir entsprechend der Beschreibung in Amor/Riml im Bach hinausgelaufen Richtung Ache und haben dort ein Steimännchen gesetzt, wo wir die Uferböschung hinauf auf den Pfad zur Straße geklettert sind (Foto)

I have never experienced the water level so modest before. The deadwood above the gully was apparently sawed out so that one could descend in the gully itself. Only saw one other small group, as rainy day - but with "sun window" in the gully. Descent to high jump unpleasantly slippery. Alternate parking now on meadow north of village.

Eingekeilt zwischen zwei großen kommerziell geführten Gruppen bewegten wir uns abwärts. Allerdings relativ schnell, weil uns die Kenntnis der Guides einige Abseilvorgänge ersparte und sie uns soger netterweise zweimal die von ihnen gespannte Tyrolienne anboten. Ein dickes merci an dieser Stelle! Wegen des mäßigen Wasserdurchsatzes keinerlei Probleme. Die Canyonisten werden mit Schildern aufgefordert, bei dem Servicegebäude südlich des Ortes ihr Auto zu parken.
Wedged between two large commercially guided groups, we moved downward. However, relatively quickly, because the knowledge of the guides saved us some abseiling and they even kindly offered us twice the tyrolienne stretched by them. A big merci at this point! Beim Wegweiser vor der Alpe links ab und über die Wise (Spur) hinunter, dann Seitenbach nach rechts queren und durch den Wald - Elektrozaun - hinunter zum Einstieg. Falls Fußweg durch die Rappenlochschlucht, von der Dornbirner Ach direkt hinauf zur Straße.

Weithin unbekannte Schlucht. Die Stände sind überwiegend mit lediglich 1 Befestigung ausgestattet. Die Durchnummerierung läßt eine zeitweise kommerzielle Begehung erahnen. Nach dem 6. oder 7.Abseiler (die Abseiler sind durchnummeriert) ist ein seitlicher Felssturz in die Schlucht gefallen. Dadurch sind 1-2 der alten Abseilpunkte zerstört. Wir haben uns mit Abseilen von Totholz beholfen. Die Situation wirkt hier noch etwas labil.
Widely unknown gorge. The stands are mostly equipped with only 1 attachment. The numbering suggests an intermittent commercial access. After the 6th or 7th rappel (the rappels are numbered), a lateral rockfall has fallen into the gorge. This destroyed 1-2 of the old rappel points. We helped ourselves with rappels from deadwood. The situation here still seems a bit unstable.

Das war meine 19. (neunzehnte) Begehung des Rio Vero, Er war auch mein erster Canyon, den ich anno 1991 im zarten Alter von 49 Lenzen beging. Mit meiner ältesten Tochter stapften wir von der Puente Villacantal flussauf, weil uns meine französischen Canyoninginformanten nicht auf die Gehrichtung aufmerksam gemacht hatten. Eine Unzahl "Falschgeher" kam uns entgegen ... Diesmal direkter Einstieg am Wehr (Zur Kombination mit Portiacha und Chimiachas stehen meine Videos im Netz). Diesmal Portiacha Höhlung, Abschluß Basaender und Cocineta (Chimiachas-Schlußabseiler) lediglich angeschaut. Ausstieg von Puente Villacantal zunächst auf Gitterrostweg an der Felswand abwärts, dann auf Spuren des aufgelassenen Weges hinas zum Campiong Rio Vero.
This was my 19th (nineteenth) ascent of the Rio Vero. It was also my first canyon, which I climbed in 1991 at the tender age of 49. With my oldest daughter we trudged upstream from the Puente Villacantal, because my French canyoning informants had not pointed out to us the direction of the walk. A myriad of "wrong-directioners" came towards us ... This time direct entry at the weir (For the combination with Portiacha and Chimiachas my videos are in the net). This time, Portiacha cave, final Basaender and Cocineta (Chimiachas final rappel) only looked at. Exit from Puente Villacantal first on grating path down the rock face, then on traces of the abandoned path hinas to Campiong Rio Vero.

Alle Haken ok. Bis auf den ersten Abseiler (12m) alle anderen mit Fixxseilen ausgestattet, viele Handläufe, teilweise um zu den Sprungplätzen zu kommen. Nach der Brücke empfiehlt sich der Ausstieg (nach rechts), wenn man vor sich eine lange gerade Strecke mit Blöcken sieht. Die Zufahrt auf der orograf. rechten Bachseite ist eine Privatstraße, kaum geeignete Plätze, um das Auto zu Parken. Auch wir hatten Ärger mit einem Anwohner, obwohl er weit entfernt von unserem Parkplatz seine Wohnung hatte.
All hooks ok. Except for the first rappel (12m) all others equipped with fixx ropes, many handrails, partly to get to the jumping places. After the bridge, the exit (to the right) is recommended when you see in front of you a long straight stretch with blocks. The access on the orograf. right side of the creek is a private road, hardly suitable places to park the car. We also had trouble with a resident, although he had his apartment far away from where we parked.

Vom Beginn der Schluchtaufweitung weg waren die Haken nicht konsequent in der Falllinie des Baches gesetzt. So sah man sich wiederholt zu längeren Schrägabseilern genötigt. Immerhin konnte man sich an einem hier ganz seltenen Wasserdurchsatz erfreuen.
From the beginning of the canyon widening, the pitons were not consistently set in the fall line of the stream. Thus one saw oneself repeatedly forced to longer diagonal ropes. At least one could enjoy a very rare water flow here.

Im Verhältnis zu meiner 1.Begehung anno 2019 hat sich nichts entscheidend verändert. Auch diesmal haben wir den bequemen Einstieg über die Piste gewählt. Hat auch den Vorteil, dass ggf. die Beschäftigten des Kleinkraftwerks zur Kenntnis nehmen, dass nun jemand in der Schlucht zugange ist. Alle Haken ok. Im Laufe des Abstiegs wurde vom Kleinkraftwerk offenbar zusätzlich Wasser abgelassen. Trotzdem war der Durchsatz unproblematisch. Folglich war auch im 2. In relation to my 1.Begehung anno 2019 nothing has changed decisively. Also this time we have chosen the convenient entry via the slope. Also has the advantage that possibly the employees of the small power plant take note that someone is now in the gorge zugange. All hooks ok.
