Der Rio Vero ist eine sehr lange und schöne Schluchtenwanderung in meist sehr offenen Gelände, jedoch gibt es immer wieder spektakuläre Felslabyrinthe in denen man sich den Weg fantasievoll durch die zum Teil sehr schmalen Gänge und Spalten suchen muss --> man braucht dafür kein Seil --> auf einen großen Rucksack sollte wegen den Engstellen eher verzichtet werden um die eindrucksvollen Passagen problemlos meistern zu können --> viele Engstellen kann man auch umgehen oder umklettern --> die Tour wird sehr viel begangen --> es sollte genügend Trinken (auch für Rückweg) und evtl. eine Jause mitgenommen werden --> das Wasser in der Schlucht ist zwar sauber jedoch oft durch die vielen Canyonauten aufgewühlt --> mehrere Schwimmpassagen und lange Gehstrecken mit kleine Klettereien sind die Hauptmerkmale der Schlucht.

Bei der 1. Möglichkeit (mit Überstellungsfahrzeug) nimmt man den Ausstieg an der Steinbrücke wo auch die Beschilderung und der Wanderweg ri. Asque angeschrieben steht (ca. 1,5h) 2. Möglichkeit ohne Überstellungsfahrzeug: man folgt der Wegbeschilderung ri. Barranco de Lumos (sichtbare Wasserleitung), zuerst hochsteigen, dann in den Bach der Brranco de Lumos --> diesen entlang gehen, nach ca. 500m li. aus den Bach aussteigen (Zufluss von re.) --> hier den Weg meist steil hoch --> dann oberhalb der tiefen Schluchten den Weg entlang bis zur Straße folgen (schöner Aussicht, jedoch langer Wanderweg) --> an der sichtbaren Telefon-/ Stromleitung li. halten --> an der Straße angekommen geht es li die letzten Km zum Parkplatz zurück (evtl. Stoppen).
Von der Puente Villacantal ist auch ein wesentlich kürzerer Aufstieg nach Alquezar möglich (ca. 40 Min.). Hoch über Alquzar kann man in seinem Wohnmobil kostenlos übernachten.
Früher gab es auch noch die Möglichkeit, auf einem Weg zum Zeltplatz "Rio Vero" hinaus zu laufen. Dieser Weg ist jedoch inzwischen aufgelassen und nur noch in seinen Resten erkennbar.
The 1st option (with shuttle car) is to take the exit at the stone bridge where the signs and the hiking trail to Asque are also marked (approx. 1.5h) 2nd option without shuttle car: follow the signs to Barranco de Lumos (visible water pipe), first climb up, then into the Brranco de Lumos stream --> walk along it, after approx. 500m left out of the stream (inflow from the right) --> here the path mostly steeply uphill --> then follow the path above the depths of the canyons to the road (beautiful view, but long hiking trail) --> keep left at the visible telephone/electricity line --> once at the road, walk left the last km back to the parking lot (possibly stop).
From the Puente Villacantal, a much shorter ascent to Alquezar is also possible (approx. 40 min.). High above Alquzar, you can spend the night in your camper van free of charge.
In the past, it was also possible to walk out to the "Rio Vero" campsite along a path. However, this path has now been abandoned and only the remains of it are still recognizable.

Alles tip top. Aktuell etwas mehr Wasser. Viele Sprünge möglich, teilweise wiederholbar. Achtung auf versteckte Siphone bzw. gut schauen, bevor man wo reingeht. Mit etwas Erfahrung alles kein Problem. Tolle Einzelstellen, aber auch viel zu gehen. Wer hier eine klassische Canyoningtour erwartet, wird wohl enttäuscht sein. Wir sind bei der Steinbrücke ausgestiegen.
Everything is tip top. Currently a little more water. Many jumps possible, some repeatable. Watch out for hidden siphons or look carefully before you go in. No problem with a little experience. Great individual sections, but also a lot of walking. Anyone expecting a classic canyoning tour here will probably be disappointed. We got out at the stone bridge.

Das war meine 19. (neunzehnte) Begehung des Rio Vero, Er war auch mein erster Canyon, den ich anno 1991 im zarten Alter von 49 Lenzen beging. Mit meiner ältesten Tochter stapften wir von der Puente Villacantal flussauf, weil uns meine französischen Canyoninginformanten nicht auf die Gehrichtung aufmerksam gemacht hatten. Eine Unzahl "Falschgeher" kam uns entgegen ...
Diesmal direkter Einstieg am Wehr (Zur Kombination mit Portiacha und Chimiachas stehen meine Videos im Netz).
Diesmal Portiacha Höhlung, Abschluß Basaender und Cocineta (Chimiachas-Schlußabseiler) lediglich angeschaut.
Ausstieg von Puente Villacantal zunächst auf Gitterrostweg an der Felswand abwärts, dann auf Spuren des aufgelassenen Weges hinas zum Campiong Rio Vero.

This time, Portiacha cave, final Basaender and Cocineta (Chimiachas final rappel) only looked at.
Exit from Puente Villacantal first on grating path down the rock face, then on traces of the abandoned path hinas to Campiong Rio Vero.

Ein wunderschöner Canyon, aber es ist weit zu laufen.
Wir sind über Portiacha eingestiegen. Es folgte eine sehr ausgiebige aquatische Wanderung. Landschaftlich sehr schön, echtes Canyoning Feeling kommt jedoch leider nicht auf. Da dieser Canyon sehr schön ist, bin ich froh diesen einmal begangen zu sein. So ganz ohne Abseilen, Rutschen oder Sprünge ist dieses jedoch für mich keine Tour, welche ich zeitnah zu wiederholen beabsichtige.

A beautiful canyon, but it's a long way to walk.
We entered via Portiacha. This was followed by a very extensive aquatic hike. Very scenic, but unfortunately you don't get a real canyoning feeling. As this canyon is very beautiful, I am glad to have done it once. However, without any rappels, slides or jumps, this is not a tour that I intend to repeat in the near future.
