Unterer Teil ab Abseiler Nr. 6 begangen. Kurze kontinuierliche Tour und ein kleiner Bachlatscher zum Ausstieg. Ansonsten sehr schöne Schlucht. Wasserstand war normal, sodass auch gut durch den Strahl geseilt werden konnte und eine erfrischende Dusche genommen werden konnte. Einstieg kommerziell gut abgesichert mit Seilgeländer und Fixseil zum Kettenstand oberhalb von Abseiler 6 in den Bachlauf. Lohnt sich bei wenig Zeit als Halbtagestour. Wir haben inkl. Zustieg und Rückweg + Pause 3h gebraucht.

We descended the lower section starting from rappel point No. 6. A short, continuous route with a brief walk through a small stream to the exit. Otherwise, a very beautiful canyon. The water level was normal, so we were able to rappel through the stream easily and enjoy a refreshing shower. The entry point is well-secured with a rope traverse and a fixed rope leading to the chain anchor above Abseiler 6 in the stream. It’s worth doing as a half-day tour if you’re short on time. Including the access, return hike, and a break, it took us 3 hours.

Vom Parkplatz in einer Spitzkehre bei einer kleinen Holzbar geradeaus leicht abfallend bis man auf den von links unten kommenden Wanderweg trifft. Man folgt diesem nach rechts ansteigend ca 30 Minuten bis man auf eine Brücke trifft. Vor der Brücke links neben dem Bach Trittspuren zum ersten Abseiler mit Sprungmöglichkeit. Am zweiten Abseiler aufpassen beim Sprung. Etwas Aufsteigen und in Richtung des gegenüber liegenden einkaufenden Schwall springen. Der Rückweg führt durch einen Tunnel .

From the parking lot, head straight ahead on a slight downhill slope past a small wooden bar until you reach the hiking trail coming up from the left below. Follow this trail to the right, ascending for about 30 minutes until you reach a bridge. Before the bridge, to the left of the stream, follow the footprints to the first rappel, where there is a possible jump. Be careful when jumping from the second rappel. Climb up a bit and jump toward the converging waterfall on the opposite side. The return route leads through a tunnel.

Sehr schöne Schlucht. Ein- sowie Ausstieg ist beschildert. Waren zu zweit und ganz alleine in der Schlucht. Alle Verankerungen vorhanden und i.o.

A very beautiful canyon. Both the entrance and exit are marked. There were just the two of us, and we were completely alone in the canyon. All anchors were in place and in good condition.

Dieser Canyon wird von den Einheimischen im Grunde als Lettenbachcanyon bezeichnet. Es handelt sich um einen sehr schönen, freundlichen und nahezu durchgehend begehbaren Abseilcanyon. Nach den Einschränkungen bei den Stuibenfällen habe ich die Standplätze teilweise ersetzt bzw. zusätzlich verstärkt. Da es damals keinerlei offizielle Beschränkungen für diesen Canyon gab, war er – gerade durch seine geringe Bekanntheit – ein regelrechter Ruhepol im Vergleich zu den stark frequentierten Stuibenfällen. Über etwa ein Jahr bin ich ihn regelmäßig mit meinen Gästen gegangen, ohne je anderen Menschen zu begegnen. Irgendwann jedoch fand ich die Edelstahl-Standplätze entfernt bzw. mit dem Winkelschleifer abgeschnitten vor. Offenbar war dies auf die Ablehnung eines lokalen Grundeigentümers zurückzuführen. Im Anschluss habe ich versucht, mit der örtlichen Agrargemeinschaft eine Einigung zu erzielen, um eine regelmäßige Begehung offiziell zu ermöglichen. Sogar ein Eintrittsmodell habe ich vorgeschlagen, jedoch wurde dies abgelehnt. Daher ist der Canyon derzeit nicht offiziell zur Begehung freigegeben. Gleichzeitig verbietet kein Schild die Begehung. :-)

This canyon is basically known by locals as the Lettenbach Canyon. It is a very beautiful, user-friendly canyon that is almost entirely accessible for rappelling. Following the restrictions at the Stuiben Falls, I have partially replaced or additionally reinforced some of the belay stations. Since there were no official restrictions for this canyon at the time, it was—precisely because of its relative obscurity—a true haven of peace compared to the heavily frequented Stuiben Falls. For about a year, I hiked it regularly with my guests without ever encountering anyone else. At some point, however, I found that the stainless-steel belay stations had been removed or cut off with an angle grinder. Apparently, this was due to opposition from a local landowner. I then tried to reach an agreement with the local agricultural community to officially allow regular access. I even proposed an admission fee model, but this was rejected. Therefore, the canyon is currently not officially open to the public. At the same time, there is no sign prohibiting access. :-)

Am 19.06.2019 war ich gemeinsam mit zwei Guide-Kollegen aus dem Allgäu zum ersten Mal in dieser Schlucht unterwegs. Vor uns hatte die Schlucht vermutlich etwa 15–20 Jahre lang niemand mehr begangen. Darauf deuteten die wenigen noch vorhandenen rostigen Bohrhaken sowie die Überreste alter Bandschlingen hin. Am 12.10.2019 kehrte ich mit einem anderen Freund zurück, um die fehlenden Stand- und Abseilpunkte nachzurüsten. Seitdem ist die Schlucht durchgehend mit Edelstahl-Bohrhaken ausgestattet und entsprechend gut eingerichtet. Besondere Aufmerksamkeit erfordert der lange Zustieg. Daher sollte man früh starten. Bis zum Einstieg in die Schlucht sind etwa 600 Höhenmeter zu bewältigen, wofür man je nach Kondition etwa 1,5 bis 2 Stunden einplanen sollte. Der eigentliche Einstieg in den Canyon ist nicht leicht zu finden. Vom höchsten Punkt aus steigt man zunächst durch einen Entwässerungsgraben ab, der stark mit Latschenkiefern überwachsen ist. Nachdem man sich durch die Latschen gearbeitet hat, befindet sich auf der linken Seite ein Baum, von dem aus man über einen steilen Grashang in die Schlucht absteigen kann. An diesem Baum haben wir eine Seilschlinge hinterlassen. In der Schlucht gibt es keinen Mobilfunkempfang und keine Notausstiegsmöglichkeit. Dafür erwarten die Begehenden zahlreiche kleinere und größere Abseilstellen. Wie auf den Fotos zu erkennen ist, können Anfang Juni noch erhebliche Schneereste sowie Lawinenablagerungen den Fortschritt erschweren. Nach meiner Erfahrung sind August und September die besten Monate für eine Begehung. Die Tour sollte ausschließlich bei stabilen Wetterverhältnissen durchgeführt werden. Empfehlung: Einige Ersatz-Bohrhaken, Maillons und ein Bohrset mitnehmen. Die Schlucht wird nur selten begangen, und mögliche Schäden durch Hochwasser oder Lawinen an den Standplätzen können nicht ausgeschlossen werden. 1. On June 19, 2019, I explored this gorge for the first time together with two fellow guides from the Allgäu. It was likely that no one had explored the canyon for about 15–20 years prior to our visit. This was indicated by the few remaining rusty bolts and the remnants of old slings. On October 12, 2019, I returned with another friend to install the missing belay and rappelling points. Since then, the canyon has been fully equipped with stainless steel bolts and is now well-set up. The long approach requires special attention, so it’s best to start early. You’ll need to climb about 600 meters in elevation to reach the canyon’s entrance, which should take about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on your fitness level. The actual entrance to the canyon isn’t easy to find. From the highest point, you first descend through a drainage ditch that is heavily overgrown with mountain pines. After working your way through the mountain pines, you’ll find a tree on the left from which you can descend into the canyon via a steep grassy slope. We left a rope loop tied to this tree. There is no cell phone reception in the canyon and no emergency exit. Instead, climbers can expect numerous abseil points of varying sizes. As can be seen in the photos, significant snow remnants and avalanche debris can still hinder progress in early June. In my experience, August and September are the best months for this climb. The tour should only be undertaken under stable weather conditions. Recommendation: Bring some spare bolts, maillons, and a drilling kit. Gut für den üblichen hohen Durchfluss eingerichtet. Keine tiefen Becken, viel Sediment. Im unteren Teil schöne Stellen, oberer Teil weniger attraktiv.

Well suited for the usual high flow rate. No pools of great depth, plenty of sediment. The lower section has some nice spots; the upper section is less attractive.

Canyon tutto sommato carino. E’ molto acquatico, presenta degli scorci interessanti, purtroppo interrotti da camminate nel greto. Armi singoli e non sempre presenti. Qualche piccolo Togoba forzato. 0 tuffi se non dal ponte sul lago

All in all, a nice canyon. It’s very water-heavy and offers some interesting views, though unfortunately interrupted by stretches where you have to walk on the riverbed. There are a few handholds, but they aren’t always present. A few small mandatory Togoba sections. 0 dives, except from the bridge over the lake.

Wieder eine kleine Schlucht mit dem Sohn, 10 Jahre alt. Hatten sogar unseren alpintauglichen Jack Russel mit. Bei den Abseilern wird er im Rucksack transportiert. Sind heute mit 3mm Neo gegangen, im Sommer voll ausreichend.

Another short canyon hike with my son, who’s 10 years old. We even brought along our Jack Russell, who’s used to the mountains. He rides in the backpack during the rappels. We wore 3mm neoprene today—more than enough for summer.

Alle Haken sind vorhanden. Teilweise wurden sie wohl nicht immer gefunden und durch einen zweiten ersetzt. Genau schauen sie können auch mal unterm Efeu versteckt sein. Ein großer Abseiler mit 72m der aber einen Zwischenstand nach 20m hat. Zwei Abseiler sind im Strahl, könnten also bei mehr Wasser kritisch werden. Im gesamten sollten aber zwei 60m Seile reichen.

All the anchors are there. In some cases, they probably weren’t always found and were replaced with a second one. Take a close look—they might be hidden under the ivy. There’s a long rappel of 72 meters, but it has an intermediate belay point at 20 meters. Two rappels are in the stream, so they could become critical if the water level rises. Overall, however, two 60-meter ropes should be sufficient.

Schöne Tour. Haben 6 Haken gesetzt, man kann aber gerne noch mehr setzen! Pincascia hatte 350l Abfluss. Gemüzlicher Wasserstand für diese Schlucht.

Nice hike. We placed 6 anchors, but feel free to place more! Pincascia had a flow of 350 liters. A leisurely water level for this canyon.
