Schöner kleiner Canyon. Guter Wasserstand. Gar nichts rutschig. Haken im eco. Modus. Keiner zu viel. Keine Doppelhaken. Dort wo es einen Haken braucht, dort hat es einen. Dort wo es keinen hat gibt es was zu improvisieren. Abseilen an Holz, abseilen über einen passenden Klemmblock oder abklettern. Die vorhandenen Haken sind jedoch neueren Datums und in gutem Zustand. Beim Zustieg war es oben noch ruhig, als wir das Auto abholten war der Schiessstand in Betrieb.

Nice little canyon. Good water level. Not slippery at all. Anchors in eco mode. Not one too many. No duplicate anchors. Where you need an anchor, there’s one. Where there isn’t one, you have to improvise. Rappel down a log, rappel over a suitable clamping block, or downclimb. The existing anchors, however, are relatively new and in good condition. It was still quiet at the top during access, but by the time we picked up the car, the shooting range was in operation.

Im oberen Teil hat es etwas mehr Wasser. Unten, nach der Wasserfassung deutlich weniger. Spass macht es trotzdem. Im oberen und unteren eingeschnittenen Teil ist es kaum rutschig. In der Mitte, dort wo es mehr Sonnenlicht hat sind die nassen Steine von rutschigen Algen bewachsen. Alle Haken und Insallationen sind o.k.

There’s a bit more water in the upper section. Down below, past the water intake, there’s significantly less. It’s still fun, though. In the upper and lower cut-in sections, it’s hardly slippery at all. In the middle, where there’s more sunlight, the wet rocks are covered with slippery algae. All the anchors and fixtures are in good condition.

Sind den Canyon heute vom obersten Punkt bis zur Steinbrücke gegangen. Stände sind alle ok. Der obere Teil zahlt sich auf jeden Fall aus. Schöne Sprünge und enge Passagen, wäre schade die zu verpassen und vorher einzusteigen. Inkl. Zustieg, mit oberen Teil bis zur Steinbrücke haben wir 6,5h gebraucht.

We hiked the canyon today from the highest point down to the stone bridge. All the belay stations are in good condition. The upper section is definitely worth the effort. There are some great jumps and narrow passages—it would be a shame to miss them and turn back before reaching them. Including access and the upper section up to the stone bridge, it took us 6.5 hours.

Stände sind ok. Achtung bei der Stelle am Foto(Foto 2) Sie befindet sich nach der markanten Stelle wo man unter einem großen Felsen sich in einen Schlitz abseilt oder abklettert (Foto 1). Bei dieser Stelle Foto 2, die sich direkt im Hauptwasserlauf befindet, kann man das Seil praktisch nicht abziehen weil es sich in dem Felsschlitz direkt im Wasser verklemmt. Wir haben das nach dem ersten Abseilenden erkannt, sind abgeklettert um das Seil zu bergen und sind die Rampe or. links abgeklettert um zum Stand zu kommen der sich or. links befindet. Ansonsten birgt die Schlucht viele schöne Stellen, der hohe Abseiler ziemlich am Schluss ist natürlich das Highlight mit der Sonne am Nachmittag (Foto 3)

The belay stations are okay. Be careful at the spot shown in the photo (Photo 2). It’s located past the distinctive spot where you rappel or climb down into a crevice beneath a large rock (Photo 1). At this spot (Photo 2), which is located directly in the main watercourse, it’s practically impossible to pull the rope out because it gets jammed in the rock crevice right in the water. We realized this after the first person finished rappelling, downclimbed to retrieve the rope, and descended the ramp to the left to downclimb to reach the belay station located on the left. Otherwise, the canyon offers many beautiful spots; the high rappel near the very end is, of course, the highlight with the afternoon sun (Photo 3).

Alle Stände ok, Schöne dunkle Becken, teilweise rutschig. Sind ebenfalls den Inferiore gegangen und im Bach geblieben. Wir haben 45 min im Blockgelände benötigt, waren aber schneller unterwegs. Teilweise müssen Felsblöcke als Verankerung genommen werden, weil man sonst nicht weiter kommt.

All sections were fine—beautiful dark pools, some of which were slippery. We also took the Inferiore route and stayed in the stream. It took us 45 minutes to get through the boulder field, but we were moving faster than that. In some places, you have to use boulders as anchors; otherwise, you can’t get any further.

Sind superiore und inferiore heute begangen. Der untere Teil ist definitiv der sportlichere von beiden Teilen. Der 35m Abseiler ist nicht zu unterschätzen und schon bei Normalpapier sportlich. Außerdem kommt man durchaus umständlich zum Kettenstand (große Personen haben einen Vorteil ;-) ) Ansonsten in Summe eine schöne Tour für durchaus sportliche Personen wenn man beide Teile macht. Wir waren schneller unterwegs und haben inkl. Zustieg zum sup., der Blockhüpferei dazwischen und dem inferiore 6:45 benötigt.

We climbed the Superiore and Inferiore today. The lower section is definitely the more challenging of the two. The 35-meter rappel shouldn’t be underestimated—it’s quite a workout even on standard rope. Plus, reaching the chain anchor is a bit of a hassle (taller people have an advantage ;-) ). Otherwise, all in all, it’s a nice route for fairly athletic climbers if you do both sections. We moved quickly and, including the access to the “superiore,” the boulder hopping in between, and the “inferiore,” it took us 6:45.

Second time and every year again 🥳🫶🏼😎🕺🏼. A very interesting canyon when the flow is good. We approached it from the Varen alp. It can also be reached from the Gemmipass. Longest pitch: 85 m. A few points were doubled last year and are still in place and in good shape. Equipement, more than adequate. CAUTION on the last big rappel! Rockfall’ 💥🙄 The inferior part (after Larschi) still has some rappels. Happy to have been part of the opener team, some years ago. A fantastic little Upper Valais beauty! With nature and wildlife at its purest. Eagle, gypaètes, chamoix, bouquetins,… 🥰

Quelques ancrages sont bien rouillés. Un petit réequipement serait utile. Sinon débit correct plutôt bas..Glissant mais sans plus. Pour la marche de retour, beaucoup plus pratique qu'avant, suivre le chemin au moulin vers le haut puis à flanc de falaise vers la droite jusqu'à ce qu'il remonte (ne pas suivre panneau Niva Fiume, prendre à gauche en haut à ce moment là).

Some of the anchors are quite rusty. A little re-equipment would be useful. Other than that, the flow is decent and rather low...slippery but no more than that. For the return walk, much more practical than before, follow the path to the mill upwards, then right along the cliffside until it rises again (do not follow the Niva Fiume sign, turn left at the top at this point).
