Done in combination with the upper part. I didn't understand why it is labeled "intermediate," given that there is no lower section. Although the anchors are all double chemical bolts, we had to rely on three human anchors to reach some of the most exposed ones; reaching them safely was tricky due to the very slippery rock. We might have missed something, but we couldn't find any other anchors set further back, something that would have been crucial in one instance.

We combined this route with the lower section, and only the upper part took around 4 hours. It is very similar to the lower section. We had trouble retrieving the rope on one of the rappels: there is a doubled anchor set well back from the drop, and a single-bolt anchor right at the edge, completely bent and equipped with two slings and maillons. We used the latter as a retrievable deviation point, but this setup didn't work so well due to the closed angle to retrieve the rope from below.

It's better to do it in the morning, as you will get the sun in the gorge. Unfortunately, there are many logs inside the gorge, and every inviting pool requires careful checking. Some idiot has stolen an anchor (10 mm); the drop can be descended by awkward down-climbing or by using a natural anchor on a wedged log. The other anchors are ok. The final rappel that leads to the Arzino is so slippery that it may trigger a pendulum effect. By far the best part is the 5-minutes within the Arzino stream. The return route to the car can be taken either along the left bank (heading upstream and crossing a metal bridge) or along the right bank of the Arzino.

Dry even after long rains, unfortunately littered with garbage. There are two rappels if you do it from the top, and only one if you enter from the bunker. From the bunker, the ropes to ascend are in place, and you need to climb two pits of 5 meters; the entrance is close to the final drop, but you can still climb up to the beginning of the gorge, thanks to the damaged via ferrata inside, thereby avoiding the road approach. The higher pitch seems slightly lower than 20m.

Lower section only. The first 15 minutes are extremely slippery in open scenery. Then you enter the gorge. There are three drops. The first is on rope, on a recent chain anchor. The second is a nice dive, and there is also an old single anchor, backed up by a rope connected to a stuck log. The third is an awkward downclimb made easier by the large number of logs. There are several passages between stuck logs, some quite awkward and others tricky due to several unstable logs that need to be checked and removed. At the exit, after 1 hour and 15 minutes, I found a crowd of swimmers on the banks of the Arzino, and I immediately began the return to the car at the beginning. I returned to it in 40 minutes, mostly on the road. The first bends can be quickly cut off on a good trail in the woods, although you end up in a private home's garden. While I appreciate this type of canyon, the satisfaction was dampened by the numerous passages on often unstable logs. The descent didn't seem particularly advisable, especially considering the numerous alternatives available nearby.

A complete, varied, and aesthetically pleasing canyon, highly recommended. Low water flow from start to finish, making it ideal for beginners. All the pools are deep and clean, allowing for two dives. Well-equipped with chemical anchors, although some are bent due to flooding. From the upper parking lot, it takes about 30 minutes of easy walking along the riverbed to reach the first abseil point, where you can put on your wetsuit.

All pools are graveled and very shallow. Low water level. The wetsuit isn't needed; long johns and a spray top are more than enough. So, it is in A1 conditions. Anchors are enough; some of them are damaged, but all are doubled, except for some recent handline departures and easy downclimbs.

Caution. The rope retrieval in the crux pitch is quite difficult and may result in a stuck rope, as happened to us. Local canyoneers confirmed us that this fact already happened several times. This is caused by the twisted profile of the abseil: after starting on the left, after a deviation point on the right, it makes a sharp turn to the left and finally goes to the right again. This rappel is the most thrilling with high waterflow. Besides this. Freezing water. Dress properly.

Done in combination with the upper part with a team of 7 people. One of our favorites in our Peloponnese trip. Anchors were excellent. If you are a regular Joe with a team that wants to enjoy the trip without rushing for a new speed record, you will need almost 6h to do both parts, as there are almost 40 rappels with 400 meters of descent.
