Very uneven in the upper section, with rare drops and a few small plunges. More enjoyable in the lower section, with some nice plunges and slides. Overall, the stream isn’t worth the long approach. We continued down the Marona River until the exit just before the confluence.

Finalmente dopo tanti anni siamo riusciti a organizzare questa discesa! Abbiamo trovato degli armi di un'esplorazione precedente, ma assolutamente insufficienti e rovinati dalle piene, quindi abbiamo aggiunto quello che serviva per scendere (catene, punti intermedi x mancorrenti)... inizio veramente spettacolare nelle "Caldaie d'Otro", poi qualche cascata più piccola e finale con altre belle verticali alte fino a uscire direttamente in paese. Attrezzato per la maggior parte evitando il flusso diretto e i movimenti d'acqua nelle pozze, poiché la portata è molto alta anche in un anno come questo di siccità. A livello di verticalità da non sottovalutare per la presenza di diversi mancorrenti lunghi con tanti punti Intermedi, e un frazionamento spostato a dx raggiungibile solo con deviatore (inoltre la roccia è molto scivolosa) Grazie al team varesotto e anche a Paolo ... l'avvicinamento è segnato con bolli e frecce blu

Finally, after so many years, we managed to organize this descent! We found some equipment from a previous exploration, but it was completely inadequate and damaged by the floods, so we added what we needed to make the descent (chains, intermediate anchors for handrails)... A truly spectacular start in the “Caldaie d’Otro,” followed by a few smaller waterfalls, and a finale with other beautiful vertical sections rising high until we emerged directly in the village. Most of the route is equipped to avoid the direct current and water movement in the pools, since the flow rate is very high even in a year like this one, which has been marked by drought. In terms of vertical difficulty, this route should not be underestimated due to the presence of several long handrails with many intermediate anchors, and a belay station shifted to the right that’s accessible only via a bypass (plus, the rock is very slippery) Thanks to the Varese team and also to Paolo ... the approach is marked with blue tags and arrows

Molto bella la variante acquatica della calata più alta. Da non sottovalutare la forza dell'acqua nei punti più stretti. La portata "normale" di questo torrente è piuttosto elevata e spinge parecchio. Sull'ultima calata, abbiamo tolto la catena gravemente danneggiata, ormai inutilizzabile. Gli ancoraggi nuovi in sponda sinistra sono anch'essi esposti alle piene - > dopo forti temporali è sempre una buona idea entrare attrezzati.

The water route on the highest rappel is very beautiful. Don’t underestimate the force of the water in the narrowest sections. The “normal” flow rate of this stream is quite high, and the current is quite strong. On the last rappel, we removed the severely damaged chain, which was no longer usable. The new anchors on the left bank are also exposed to flooding—> after heavy storms, it’s always a good idea to come prepared with the proper gear.

Buona opzione per aggiungere qualche calata alla più bella parte inferiore. Un po' noioso il tratto di cammino tra le due parti, ma se si sta sui prati adiacenti passa in fretta. Abbiamo aggiunto un fix per spezzare in due la prima calata.

A good option for adding a few rappels to the most scenic lower section. The hike between the two sections is a bit tedious, but if you stay on the adjacent meadows, it goes by quickly. We added a belay station to split the first rappel into two.

Apertura del torrente. Noi siamo saliti fino alla centrale idroelettrica con una normale Dacia Dokker. Essendo breve, ha senso farlo in combinazione con il vicino Valletta.

Start of the stream. We drove up to the hydroelectric plant in a standard Dacia Dokker. Since it’s a short drive, it makes sense to combine it with a visit to nearby Valletta.

Done in the afternoon after Asinera exploration. Very fast shuttle car 8min, than approach from the little church following the path till the river and afterwards following the bank until arriving to the stone and cement barrage. Very continuous, some anchor could be added for safety on the first downclimbs but in general everything in order and double, with MC on many belays but only on the last pitch mandatory with intermediate point. Exit right after the last small pitch under the bridge, just overcome it and right after climb up on the right bank.

Low expectation cause in the final part the water goes under the sand and seems quite absent, also at the beginning it is pretty dry but after a water station the real flow begins and also the canyon too. Do not underestimate water cause there are some narrow sections. Really pleasant with several jumps at the begin and in the middle (we jumped 4 out of 8 overall pitches). Quite everywere single points, some of them missing and we integrated one necessary in the initial part and doubled one in the final part; to be considered explorative and bring some safety equipment cause high water can often take away anchor points. Very beautiful geology in the final part. It's not easy to find parking; near the exit, there are no-parking signs almost everywhere, while further up there's very little space. The water flow is excellent despite the very dry season.

All the anchor points in order, quite everything single point and also many downclimb needed. In the C40 with the arch the final T20 was not doable without enough water to avoid contact with rock, all the rest of the jumps or toboggan feasible. Water level without any problem (checkpoint picture) and quite inexistent release from the caption towards the lower part that we did nearly dry, except for the intermediate pools.

Avvicinamento selvaggio nella meravigliosa natura di Maiorca. Scorrimento d'acqua dalla torre di roccia in poi e per tutta la forra. La maggior parte delle cascate è attrezzata con corde fisse in buono stato. Molte possibilità per tuffi e toboga. Abbiamo utilizzato la nostra corda solo sulle due verticali più alte e sulle ultime due prima del mare (non attrezzate con fittoni resinati). Siamo scesi fino al mare e utilizzato il motoscafo per il rientro a Port Soller (Sollermar: 450€ per 8 persone).

Wild approach in the beautiful nature of Mallorca. Water flow from the rock tower onward and throughout the gorge. Most of the falls are equipped with fixed ropes in good condition. Many possibilities for diving and tobogganing. We used our rope only on the two highest verticals and on the last two before the sea (not equipped with resin-bonded ropes). We went down to the sea and used the speedboat to return to Port Soller (Sollermar: 450€ for 8 people).

Gola molto profonda e scenografica, percorsa in 2h 30min per rientrare da Sa Fosca. Si tratta di un percorso avventura seguendo deboli tracce e tra enormi caos di massi che obbligano a numerose arrampicate su roccia molto unta. Nessun scorrimento d'acqua ma alcune profonde pozze da attraversare. Alcune corde fisse in cattivo stato aiutano la progressione (non è necessaria attrezzatura). Impegno fisico complessivo da non sottovalutare.

Very deep and scenic gorge, covered in 2h 30min to return from Sa Fosca. This is an adventure route following faint tracks and among huge chaos of boulders that force numerous climbs on very greasy rock. No water flow but some deep pools to cross. Some fixed ropes in poor condition aid progression (no equipment required). Overall physical commitment not to be underestimated.

Parked at Bar Else Arcs, walked a little bit back on the road till the bridge where you can find the evident old road that you can follow down to the old electric power station structure. All anchors in perfect conditions and water level very good, reported more than usual this year by locals and guides, 6h in a group of 16. Part of the group exited by the path leading back to Escorca (approx 2h), while the rest went down through Paresi (approx 2h30).

Flow in picture medium, no rain in the last week but quite all day in the week before, that makes some pitches very nice cause passing exactling in the water or right behind it. Three main different interesting sections, unluckily interrupted by many logs in between, in particular between the first two parts, and a really beautiful final section.

Completed the exploration, started in 2023 with the upper part and 2024 with the intermediate part, with the last section from Caviano/Sant'Abbondio at height 290 down to parking under the road just before the lake at height 210. Flow in picture medium, no rain in the last week but quite all day in the week before, that makes the last section very nice cause starting with a 20m high pitch followed by a narrower passage with a couple more pitches with abundant water.

The Clean your backyard 2025 was organized here, a large amount of trash was removed from the riverbed, leaving it decently clean. After a week of heavy rain, the river had a good water flow, ideal for a nice descent.

After Merigetto and Rattaiola done in 2021, with the cablecar now operative we did Piancarossa with just 45min walk from cablecar arrival with very small height gain. Flow quite high, normal in Piancarossa, many points descended freely or with good natural on trees, just a few anchor points added from scratch. After confluence with Merigetto restored some anchor points that were reported as stolen in 2023 and removed many trees in the pools so that all the jumps are possible, and both Piancarossa and Merigetto from the confluence are fully in order. Check carefully the flow at the end bridge, taking into consideration that the flow doubles after Merigetto confluence and doubles again after Rattaiola confluence.

From Alpe Colla the path is not always clear, we left the main path shortly after the metal stair and went horizontally till reaching a rock ridge with a tree, MC10 till another tree with C40 to enter the canyon. Final 55m use the old french chains to reach the newest two separated anchor points high, that let you go down close the water flow and with easy recovery.

Medium/high water flow after a week with mainly rainy days, but anyway still suitable for our beginner/introduction course just by installing a couple of ropeways. The rock in this gorge has beautiful colors! The crystal clear and abundant water completes the work. Today with 400 L/s at the check point, easily manageable but still not for beginners. After the confluence it becomes a long water trek but does not lose its charm. Thanks for the two new anchors, they were appreciated 🙏

It can be done in conjunction with Marona (worth doing it this way). Mainly horizontal, a lot walking and swimming, but also a couple of nice jumps. The exit point we used: once you get at the junction with Rio Valgrande, keep walking along Pogallo (now San Bernardino) for about 50 meters, walk all the way up the steep slope on your right until you reach the covered artificial channel, walk along it towards the road bridge, pass below it and then go up the stairs on your left.

Bella discesa in acqua cristallina, molti tuffi e due calate. Ancoraggi inox C55 2dx e C40 1dx. Percorrenza in 1h 30min. Per l'avvicinamento in sponda destra, dopo l'Alpe Cortasgell abbiamo preso il sentiero a destra per la baita isolata, superato uno spiazzo dietro la baita e siamo arrivati in piano al bordo della bastionata di roccia. Da qui per un vecchio sentiero con gradini in pietra e cavo di acciaio siamo scesi ripidi fino al torrente, arrivando in corrispondenza di un'antica opera idraulica e di alcune belle pozze.

Nice descent in crystal clear water, many dives and two rappels. Stainless anchors C55 2dx and C40 1dx. Travel time 1h 30min. For the right bank approach, after Alpe Cortasgell we took the path to the right to the isolated lodge, passed a clearing behind the lodge and came level to the edge of the rock rampart. From here by an old path with stone steps and steel cable we descended steeply to the stream, arriving at an old water works and some nice pools.

Mentre ci stavamo cambiando per entrare è stato aperto lo scarico di una vasca lungo la strada che ha riversato nel torrente molta acqua, facendo alzare improvvisamente la portata. I tecnici ci hanno assicurato che il livello non sarebbe salito più di così. Il torrente rimane percorribile, quindi siamo entrati e non abbiamo avuto problemi. Ci hanno detto che questo tipo di operazione viene fatta spesso per pulire le vasche dell'acquedotto dopo le piogge.

As we were changing to go inside, the drain of a roadside tank was opened, which poured a lot of water into the creek, causing the flow rate to suddenly rise. The engineers assured us that the level would not rise any higher. The creek remains passable, so we went in and had no problems. We were told that this kind of operation is often done to clean the aqueduct tanks after rains.
