We leave the SS 33 (Gravellona - Domodossola), which goes up the Ossola valley, through the Piedimulera exit and we go west on the SS549 in the Val d'Anza towards Macugnaga. After 20.5 km (from the SS33 exit) we cross the village of Ceppo Morelli. 2.2 km further on, the road goes up to the village of Mondelli on the right. But first we continue 850m on the SS549 and park our car for the exit at the bridge over the Rio Mondelli. Here hangs for the exit from the stream on the bridge orographic right a fixed ropes. Then we go back and up to the left to the village of Mondelli (1190 m a.s.l.). At the exit of the road we leave the upper car in the parking lot in front of the village.

If you switch the ascent of the Mondelli med. before, the access is as described there and instead of the exit at the bridge you continue the tour in the lower part. However, if you want to make the entry to the lower part directly, follow the signs "Stabioli, Macugnaga" and you will reach the bridge where the exit from the middle part of the Mondelli is made.

14-15 rappels in a partly quite narrow and watery descent. At the double step above the large block, a continuous rappel over 60m should be more pleasant than using the transfer. In 2017, a dam with water drainage was built after the first 6 abseiling points, which removes about 3/4 of the water. This has made the lower part of the canyon much easier. At the dam, you can exit to the right (cairns and unclear path). At the last waterfall, make absolutely sure that there is no knot above the rope protection.

Today Mondelli 1,2 and 3 committed. As always a wonderful tour. Especially in the middle part, many stands were renewed (chain stands). The tree entanglement can be climbed well. We know the tour well and were well on the way in pairs. Upper part about 1 std Middle part about 1 std Lower part about 2 std A must todo if you are in the area

Mondelli is a fantastic canyon. A canyoning tour in the Mondelli leaves nothing to be desired: Lots of great slides, some awesome jumps and many fantastic abseils. The scenic landscape is very beautiful and you have a great view. What's missing are deep gulches: there are only a few meters every now and then. This canyon should preferably be visited when the sun is shining. It is worth it! The canyon is long, so it's better not to do it in one day, but take your time, have fun and get off at the bridge to Mondelli and get back on again later.
