Von Lecco fährt man auf der SS36 Richtung Valsassina hoch. Nach dem Tunnel kommt bei Ballabio ein Kreisverkehr, wo man auf der SP62 in Richtung Morterone wechselt. Am Ende der Ortschaft biegt man li nach Morterone ab (SP63). Die Straße führt hier kurz bergab zum Industriegebiet. Vor der Firma „Grigna Color“ biegt re ab und fährt über die kleine Brücke. Ca. 50m nach der Brücke kommt re eine Schotterstraße (große Steine). Dieser Schotterstraße folgt man bis zum Fahrverbotsschild. Hier das Überstellungsfahrzeug parken (45.883311, 9.427962). Mit dem 2. PKW fährt man dann auf der asphaltierten Bergstraße weiter Richtung Morterone. Nach 8 Serpentinenkurven kommt ein kleiner Tunnel, darauf folgen 6 weitere Serpentinenkurven. Danach haltet man Ausschau nach einer kleinen Ausweiche auf der li Seite (Klettersteig „Via Ferrata Simone Contessi“). Auf der gegenüberliegenden Straßenseite gibt es nur eine begrenzte Parkmöglichkeit (45.879869, 9.441534). Diese Strasse ist als Shuttle Strecke recht lang, eng und ausgesetzt, mit einem Fahrzeug bis ca. 5meter Länge noch gut zu fahren. Mit Gegenverkehr muss gerechnet werden, da oben ein klettersteig und Infrastruktur ist. Ausweichmöglichkeiten primär in den Serpentinen / Kurven. Kleiner Tipp: Verfügt man nur über 1 PKW, so fährt man sein Material zuerst hoch, versteckt es in der Nähe der Ausweiche und geht dann von unteren Parkplatz über den Pfad/Wanderweg or.li. neben der Schlucht hoch.

From Lecco, take the SS36 heading up toward Valsassina. After the tunnel, you’ll come to a roundabout near Ballabio, where you’ll turn onto the SP62 toward Morterone. At the exit of the town, turn left toward Morterone (SP63). The road leads briefly downhill to the industrial area. Before the “Grigna Color” company, turn right and cross the small bridge. About 50 meters past the bridge, a gravel road (with large stones) branches off to the right. Follow this gravel road until you reach the no-entry sign. Park your shuttle car here (45.883311, 9.427962). With the second car, continue along the paved mountain road toward Morterone. After 8 hairpin turns, you’ll come to a small tunnel, followed by 6 more hairpin turns. After that, look for a small passing area on the left side (the “Via Ferrata Simone Contessi” via ferrata). On the opposite side of the road, there is only limited parking available (45.879869, 9.441534). This road is quite long, narrow, and exposed for a shuttle route, but it’s still manageable with a vehicle up to about 5 meters in length. Expect oncoming traffic, as there’s a via ferrata and infrastructure up there. Passing opportunities are primarily in the switchbacks and bends. A quick tip: If you only have one car, drive your gear up first, hide it near the passing spots, and then hike up from the lower parking lot via the trail on the ortographic left side of the canyon.

(Ab Parkplatz / Shuttle) Bei der Ausweiche zweigt rechts eine schmale Schotterstraße (Schild Fahrverbot) ab. Dieser folgt man leicht abfallend bis zum Bach. (Superiore) (zu Fuß 1h15min) (nicht zu empfehlen! - unrentabel) Variante 1PKW ->Von unteren Parkplatz folgt man zu Fuß der Schotterstraße (Hochspannungsleitungen) leicht abfallen bis zum Ende. Vor dem Wartungstunnel führt li ein unscheinbarer Pfad hoch, vorbei an einer kleinen Ruine. Nach einigen Hm. trifft man auf die SP63. In der darauffolgenden Serpentinenkurve geht der Wanderweg re wieder weiter in den Wald hoch. Nach weiteren Hm. Kommt man wieder auf die Bergstraße. Hier bleibt man auf der Straße die man bis kurz vor der Ausweiche (Klettersteigschild „Via Ferrata Simone Contessi) folgt

(From the parking lot / shuttle) At the detour, a narrow gravel road (No Entry sign) branches off to the right. Follow this road, which slopes gently downward, to the stream. (Superiore) (1 hr 15 min on foot) (not recommended! – not worth the effort) Option 1: By car -> From the lower parking lot, walk along the gravel road (high-voltage power lines), which slopes gently downward, to the exit. Before the maintenance tunnel, an inconspicuous path leads up to the left, past a small ruin. After a few meters of elevation gain, you’ll reach the SP63. In the following hairpin curve, the trail continues to the right, back up into the forest. After climbing a few more meters in elevation, you’ll rejoin the mountain road. Here, stay on the road and follow it until just before the passing place (via ferrata sign “Via Ferrata Simone Contessi”).

Mit Autoumsetzung: Orographisch rechts den Fixseilen den Wald hinauf - deutliche Pfade - zurück zur Straße (2. Auto). Ohne Autoumsetzung: zu Fuß die Straße hinunter.

With a shuttle: Follow the fixed ropes up the slope on the orographic right side of the forest—clear trails—back to the road (2nd car). Without a shuttle: Walk down the road.
