Von Carnia fährt man auf der SS13 (Bundesstraße) Richtung Tarvisio. Ca. 3km nach der Ortschaft Resiutta kommt ein kleiner Tunnel und eine Brücke über den Fella Fluss. Nach der Brücke links abbiegen und in Richtung Roveredo fahren. Nach kurzer Zeit kommt eine größere Straßenbrücke wo man ein großes flaches Bachbett sieht. Hier befindet sich der Ausstieg wenn man durch den kompletten Rio Simon gehen will. Am besten hier die Autos stehen lassen, da es weiter oben in der Ortschaft nur wenige Parkplätze gibt die eher für Einheimischen gedacht sind (N46.398500/E013.263400)
Wenn geschuttelt wird dann mit so wenig Autos wie möglich der Straße in die kleine Ortschaft Roveredo folgen. In den letzten Jahren hat sich ein Zustieg etabliert und für den parkt man am besten bei der kleinen Kirche von Roveredo. Aber ACHTUNG! Der Rio Simon ist einer der meistbegangensten Canyons in Friaul und wir wollen die Einwohner nicht stören. Deshalb bitte immer Fragen und ggf. wenn beim Parkplatz schon zu viele Autos stehen auf einen der Parkplätze ausweichen, die man vorher bei der Anfahrt ins Örtchen Roveredo passiert hat. (N46.387213/E013.252620) oder in der Nähe wenn zu viel los ist. Bitte Rücksicht auf die Einwohner nehmen, damit wir diesen Canyon noch lange ohne Probleme besuchen können.

From Carnia take the SS13 (main road) in the direction of Tarvisio. About 3km after the village Resiutta there is a small tunnel and a bridge over the Fella river. After the bridge turn left and drive in the direction of Roveredo. After a short time there is a bigger road bridge where you can see a big flat streambed. Here is the exit if you want to go through the whole Rio Simon. It is best to leave the cars here, as there are only a few parking spaces further up in the village, which are rather intended for locals (N46.398500/E013.263400).
If you are going to cut, follow the road to the small village of Roveredo with as few cars as possible. In the last few years an access has been established and for this it is best to park at the small church of Roveredo. But ATTENTION! The Rio Simon is one of the most frequented canyons in Friuli and we do not want to disturb the inhabitants. Therefore, please always ask and, if necessary, if there are already too many cars at the parking lot, switch to one of the parking lots that you passed before when approaching the village of Roveredo. Vom Parkplatz bei der Kirche geht man gegenüber die asphaltierte Straße bergauf und kommt dann gleich zum kleinen Friedhof von Roveredo. Hier führt rechts vom Friedhof ein klar erkennbarer Pfad in den Wald hoch. Diesen folgt man, bis man zu einer kleinen Wiese mit Haus kommt. Hier beim Haus rechts vorbei und über die Wiese hoch. Oberhalb vom Haus beim Wald sollte man wieder auf den Pfad treffen. Man folgt dem Pfad steil bergauf bis man nach ca 20 – 25 min auf den Wanderweg 424 kommt. Dem Wanderweg re. folgen. Nach ca .1h Aufstieg kommen einige Ruinen und etwas höher (auf ca. 760m) bei einer Weggabelung ein kl.Kreuz am Wegrand .Hier folgt man re. den nun schmalen und abschüssigen Weg für ca. 30min. der direkt zum Einstieg auf ca 630m führt ( man überquert Anfangs einen kl. Bach und passiert später kurz vor dem Einstieg noch ein großes Felsendach )-->!!!beim Zustieg keine Steine lostreten.
From the parking lot near the church, walk uphill on the opposite side of the asphalt road and you will immediately reach the small cemetery of Roveredo. Here, to the right of the cemetery, a clearly visible path leads up into the woods. Follow this path until you reach a small meadow with a house. Pass the house on the right and go up through the meadow. Above the house near the forest you should meet the path again. Follow the path steeply uphill until you reach hiking trail 424 after about 20 - 25 min. Follow the trail to the right. After about 1h ascent come some ruins and a little higher (at about 760m) at a fork in the road a small cross on the side of the path. Here you follow the right now narrow and sloping path for about 30min. which leads directly to the entry at about 630m (one crosses initially a small stream and passes later shortly before the access still a large rock roof )-->!!!at the access no stones loosereten.

Am Einstieg auf ca 630m angekommen sieht man schon den ersten Gumpen mit glasklarem Wasser jedoch keinen Bohrhaken --> an dieser Stelle wird oft gesprungen , kann aber auch abgeklettert werden --> darauf folgen schon die nächsten Stufen in Enger Schlucht --> der nächste Stand ist am Fels re. oben versteckt --> hier entweder ca 15m direkt in den Gumpen oder über Felsband 20m zum nächsten Stand abseilen-- gleich danach 10m im Überhang in den Gumpen --> kurzer offener Schluchtabschnitt --> Gehen --> abklettern zum Stand li. vor großen Klemmblock R5+S3 in Gumpen unterhalb des gr. Klemmblocks --> nach dem großen Klemmblock wird die Schlucht für längere Zeit eng --> es folgen viele kl. Abbrüche die je nach Wasserstand (können) abgeklettert, gesprungen oder abgeseilt werden. Zwischen den Stufen kommen in eindrucksvoller Umgebung (hohe Schluchtenwände) einige kurze Gehpassagen (Schwimmpassagen) --> an einer markanten Stelle macht die Schlucht eine 90° li. Kurve hier kann re. (versteckter Stand) abgeseilt oder direkt 6m gesprungen werden --> nach wenigen Minuten kommt die erste höhere ca.20m Abseilstelle von einem großen Fels -->und ein sonniges offenes Platzerl wo man re. einen steilen Notausstieg hat --> offen geht es weiter bis zum 15m Abseiler re. oder Sprung --> längere Geh- und Kletterpassage in offenes Gelände bis zum nächsten Standplatz weit re. außen --> es folgt eine kurze Gehstrecke bevor man zum höchsten Abseiler von ca. 30m (li.) kommt --> die Schlucht wird nochmals enger bevor sie sich endgültig öffnet --> mehrere Geh- und Kletterabschnitte müssen noch überwunden werden bevor man bei den letzen Abseilstellen steht--> hier kann je nach Wasserstand 8m gesprungen oder 10m abgeseilt werden --es folgt noch eine rutschige schräge Felsplatte die zum Teil abgestiegen bzw abgeseilt werden kann -->nach der Rampe geht es re. noch ca. 1km über flaches Bachbett bis zur Brücke auf ca. 300m.

Between the bends there are some short walking passages (swimming passages) in impressive surroundings (high canyon walls) --> at a prominent point the canyon makes a 90° left bend here you can rappel to the right (hidden stance) or jump directly 6m --> after a few minutes the first higher approx.20m rappel from a big rock -->and a sunny open spot where you have a steep emergency exit on the right --> open it continues to the 15m rappel on the right or jump --> longer walking and climbing passage in open terrain to the next belaystation far to the right outside --> a short walking passages follows before you reach the highest rappel of about 30m (li.) --> the canyon gets narrower again before it finally opens up --> several walking and climbing sections have to be overcome before you reach the last rappel points --> here you can jump 8m or rappel 10m depending on the water level --> there is another slippery sloping rock slab that can be partly descended or rappelled --> after the ramp it goes right about 1km over a flat streambed to the bridge at about 300m.

Das Wasser ist super klar. Der Höhlensprung wäre sicher auch vom Felsen möglich, wir sind nur von der Kante gesprungen und kein Bodenkontakt. Wasser hat schon angenehme Sommertemperatur. Alles OK.

Alles tip top. Das Hilfsseil bei der schrägen Felsplatte nach dem letzten Abseiler könnte mal erneuert werden, Abklettern, geht aber auch locker ohne. Seilgeländer zum erreichen der Standplätze an mindesten 2 Stellen sinnvoll, an den anderen Stellen eher Geschmackssache. Dafür seilt man auch immer außerhalb des Wasserstrahls ab. Wasser war insgesamt doch sehr frisch 🥶
Everything tip top. The auxiliary rope at the sloping rock slab after the last rappel could be renewed, downclimbing, but is also easy without it. Rope traverses to reach the belays make sense in at least 2 places, in the other places rather a matter of taste. But you always rappel outside the water jet. The water was very fresh overall 🥶

Dies Jahr null Zecken beim Zustieg.
Wie immer alle Stände absolut top. Bisschen mehr Wasser als normal, aber absolut kein Problem, da fast alle Abseiler außerhalb des Wassers.
Die Gumpen recht zugekiest aber mit flexiblen Knien das meiste trotzdem springbar.
Die einzige bislang bei hohem Wasserstand schwierige Stufe ist nicht mehr vorhanden sondern jetzt eine trockene Rutsche, da sich durch einen neuen Felsklemmblock der Wasserlauf komplett verändert bzw nach links verlagert hat.
Org viel Zulauf aus den seitlichen Quellen der Felswand welcher durchwegs für ein magisches Ambiente sorgt.

As always, all the belays were absolutely great. A bit more water than normal, but absolutely no problem, as almost all rappels are out of the water.
The pools are quite gravelly but with flexible knees most of them are still jumpable.
The only previously difficult step at high water levels is no longer there but now a dry slide, as the water course has completely changed or shifted to the left due to a new rock block.
Org a lot of inflow from the side springs of the rock face which creates a magical atmosphere throughout.

Another really nicely bolted canyon - plenty of shiny glue ins, and linked DBB 👌 Quite a lot of the raps can be jumped. The pull on the final rap would be a little awkward if you only had a 60m, and the flow was high.

Wir gehen fast jährlich den Simon, aber es ist immer wieder schön. Etwas mehr Wasser als im Sommer üblich, aber unproblematisch. Alles OK. Das erste mal beim Zustieg keine Zecken abbekommen.
We go to Simon almost every year, but it's always beautiful. A little more water than usual in summer, but no problems. Everything OK. No ticks for the first time on access.

Haben heute den Canyon mal schneller begangen als üblich. Waren in 2,25h Auto-Auto durch. Das ist aber schon ziemliches Limit und man muss sagen, dass wir es nal ausprobieren wollten was geht wenn man die Schlucht sehr gut kennt.
Stände alles tip top, viele Sprünge machbar.
Walked the canyon faster than usual today. We were through in 2.25 hours by car. But that's quite a limit and you have to say that we wanted to try it out and see what happens if you know the canyon very well.
Stands all tip top, many jumps doable.

Beschriebener Zustieg ist gut zu finden. Die „Parkplätze“ an der Kirche in Roveredo sind sehr rar (max. 3 Stk.), ansonsten gibt es etwas vorher im Ort aber noch mehr offizielle Parkplätze.
