Take the SS 237 either northwards along the western shore of Lago d'Idro or southwards along the Fiume Chiese valley to Ponte Caffaro. Park the first car here near the river. Take the second car from here 3.6 km south. Turn right at the traffic circle and take the SS 669 up towards Bagolino, Passo Croce Domini. After 6.4 km (from the traffic circle) you will reach the bridge over the Caffaro. After the bridge, park the second car on the right.

On the south side of the bridge a little upstream (WSW) until you find the trail down to the river.

At the beginning still somewhat cut in, later more in open streambed it goes running, swimming, rappeling and some times also rappeling up to the weirs before the power station. From the water intake at the power station, the last part can be swum again.

We took the exit at 45,819569 - 10,498611 which took us 30 mins and was doable but steep for about 20 meters scrambling up the hillside. The forest road brought us back to our car. That part of the canyon took us about 2 hours (with 4 beginners of which 2 were kids). To continue until the end would have been 3 hours more.
