Von der sehenswerten Provinzhauptstadt Avila auf der N 110 in (südwestlicher)Richtung Plasenica. Nach 81 km erreicht man El Barco de Avila, fährt an der Ortschaft vorbei über den Fluss, folgt weiter der N 110, um dann nach ca. 4 km li. abzubiegen und über Navatejares (!) nach Nava del Barco zu kommen (ca. 11 km ab Abzeigung von der N 110). In Nava del Barco steuert man den südwestlichen Ortsausgang an, fährt auf der Teerstraße in südlicher Richtung (Umbrias). Bald biegt man bei einem Steinkreuz links ab. Man kommt zu einer Verzweigung der Teerstraße mit einer großen Info-Tafel. Vor der Info-Tafel links vorbei und dann im Bogen die in der Steigung betonierte Piste hinauf. Oben folgt man der Forstpiste weiter, immer in etwa gleicher Richtung. Einen Abzweig li. hinunter ignoriert man. So kommt man zu einer Brücke - Puente de las Juntas - vor einer kräftigen Steigung auf schlechter werdender Piste. Vor der Brücke re. Auto abstellen (1165 m ü.NN).

From the provincial capital of Avila, which is well worth seeing, take the N 110 in the (south-westerly) direction of Plasenica. After 81 km you reach El Barco de Avila, drive past the village across the river, continue on the N 110, then turn left after approx. 4 km and drive via Navatejares (!) to Nava del Barco (approx. 11 km from the turn-off from the N 110). In Nava del Barco, head for the south-western end of the town and drive south on the tarred road (Umbrias). Soon turn left at a stone cross. You come to a fork in the tarred road with a large information board. Pass in front of the information board on the left and then turn left up the concrete slope. At the top, follow the forest road in roughly the same direction. Ignore a turn-off to the left downhill. This brings you to a bridge - Puente de las Juntas - before a steep ascent on a deteriorating track. Park your car on the right before the bridge (1165 m above sea level).

Vom Auto die Piste hinauf kommen wir in ca. 20 Min. an ein grünes Eisengatter, das den Weg sperrt (1325 m ü.NN). Weiter nun auf einem Wanderweg, der in südlicher Richtung in das Tal hineinführt, an dessen Talschluss der Canyon auf uns wartet. In 1 Std. ab Eisengatter erreicht man, vorbei an 2 Almen, und nach Überquerung des Baches einen großen Felsklotz mit Kreuz und Marienstatue (1540 m ü.NN) - Bereich des Ausstiegs. In Serpentinen geht es ca. 70 Min weiter bergauf, bis man auf 1830 m ü.NN nach re. in das Bachbett hineinqueren kann. Wenn wir den Canyon von oben angehen wollen, steigen wir weiter bergan, bis wir unterhalb der Staumauer problemlos zum Bach absteigen können.

From the car up the slope, it takes about 20 minutes to reach a green iron gate that blocks the path (1325 m above sea level). Continue on a hiking trail that leads south into the valley, where the canyon awaits us at the head of the valley. In 1 hour from Eisengatter you pass 2 alpine pastures and after crossing the stream you reach a large rock block with a cross and statue of the Virgin Mary (1540 m above sea level) - the exit area. Continue uphill in serpentines for about 70 minutes until you can cross to the right into the streambed at 1830 m above sea level. If we want to approach the canyon from above, we continue uphill until we can easily descend to the stream below the dam wall.

Etwa auf Höhe des Felsklotzes mit Kreuz und Marienstatue re. hinaus auf den Wanderweg und denselben Weg zurück, den man gekommen ist.

At about the height of the rock block with the cross and statue of the Virgin Mary on the right, exit onto the hiking trail and return the way you came.
