Von Maniago aus über die S.S. 251 in Cellinatal. Nach der Tunnelkette noch bevor man Barcis erreicht, nach links über die Ponte Antoi die einen Seitenarm des Stausees von Barcis überbrückt. Auf dieser Straße in Richtung Piancavallo bis zur Brücke über die Engklamm. Hier gibt es eine kleine Parkmöglichkeit für 2-3 Autos (Ausstiegsparkplatz). Der aufsteigenden Straße über 7 Kehren folgen und dann an einer Kapelle an der rechten Straßenseite vorbei. Noch ein Stück der nun flacheren Straße folgen, bis man links eine Parkbucht erreicht. Hier beginnt eine lange Leitplanke auf der linken Straßeseite. Parkmöglichkeit für 2-3 Autos.

From Maniago via the S.S. 251 in Cellina Valley. After the chain of tunnels, before reaching Barcis, turn left over the Ponte Antoi, which bridges a branch of the Barcis reservoir. Follow this road towards Piancavallo until you reach the bridge over the gorge. Here there is a small parking area for 2-3 cars (parking exit). Follow the ascending road over 7 hairpin bends and then past a chapel on the right-hand side of the road. Follow the now flatter road for a while until you reach a parking bay on the left. A long crash barrier begins here on the left-hand side of the road. Parking for 2-3 cars.

Der Straße bergauf folgen, beim 20ten Befestigungspfosten für die Leitplanke beginnt ein sanft absteigender Steig (kleiner Steinmann) den man bis zum Bach folgt.

Follow the road uphill, at the 20th post for the crash barrier a gently descending path begins (small cairn) which you follow to the stream.

Einfache Abkletterpassagen führen zu einer 2m Rutsche, einer Schwimmpassage und einem schönen Felsbogen. Dann noch kurz durch einen niedrigen Felskanal bevor man vor der höchsten Abseilstelle steht. 16m von einem Haken mit Kettenglied in einem wuchtigen Kanal. Gleich anschließend gibt es eine 3m Rutsche. Diese Passage kann auch orogr. rechts vom einem Baum abgeseilt werden. Weiter abkletternd und schwimmend durch niedrige Felskanäle zur nächsten 14m Abseilstelle von einem Ringhaken links. Bei viel Wasser sollte man tunlichst vermeiden links in die Höhle neben dem Wasserfall gespült zu werden. Kurz durch offeneres Gelände abklettern bis man die nächste 2m Abseilstelle rechts unter einem großen Klemmblock findet. Ab hier ist ist der Schluchtgrund mit großen, runden und rutschigen Felsblöcken bedeckt. Unübersichtlich und mühsam abklettern bis man vor einem hausgroßen Block steht. Beim Stand links (im Wasserstrahl) fehlten 2024 die Laschen, rechts vom Block findet man aber einen 7m Abseilstand den man mittels einer Abkletterpassage unter einem kleineren Klemmblock erreicht. Danach nur mehr kurz Blockkletterei bis man über einen herrlichen 8m Sprung die enge Endklamm erreicht. Der Sprung könnte auch mittels einer Kette links abgeseilt werden. In der Engklamm mehrere kleine Abkletterstellen und ein interessanter Halbsiphon unter einem Riesenblock. Nach zwei Brücken und einer Madonnenstatue links in einer Felsecke endet die Klamm im warmen Wasser des Staussees. Kurz rechts rausschwimmen und nahe eines Betonpiers aussteigen.

Easy downclimbs lead to a 2m slide, a swimming passage and a beautiful rock arch. Then briefly through a low rock channel before you reach the highest abseil point. 16m from an anchor with a chain link in a massive channel. Immediately afterwards there is a 3m slide. This passage can also be rappelled orographic to the right of a tree. Continue descending and swimming through low rock channels to the next 14m abseil from a ring bolt on the left. If there is a lot of water, you should avoid being washed left into the cave next to the waterfall. Downclimb briefly through more open terrain until you find the next 2m abseil point on the right under a large clamping block. From here, the bottom of the gorge is covered with large, round and slippery boulders. The downclimb is confusing and tedious until you reach a block the size of a house. At the belay on the left (in the water jet), the lugs were missing in 2024, but to the right of the block you will find a 7m abseil stand which you can reach by means of a downclimb under a smaller clamping block. After that it is only a short block climb until you reach the narrow final gorge via a magnificent 8m jump. The jump could also be rappelled to the left using a chain. In the gorge there are several small downclimbs and an interesting semi-siphon under a giant boulder. After two bridges and a statue of the Madonna on the left in a rocky corner, the gorge exits into the warm water of the reservoir. Swim out briefly to the right and get out near a concrete pier.

Über Steinstufen zum Wanderweg aufsteigen, nach rechts über die Brücke und gleich danach über einen Steig zur Straße aufsteigen, die man beim kleinen Parkplatz erreicht.

Climb up the stone steps to the hiking trail, turn right over the bridge and immediately afterwards climb up a path to the road, which you reach at the small parking lot.

Schlucht entwässert die Nord-Ostseite des Monte Cavallos. Viel Wasser im Frühjahr, im Sommer dann oft trocken.

canyon drains the north-eastern side of Monte Cavallo. Lots of water in spring, then often dry in summer.
