Der Gesäusebundesstrasse zwischen Hieflau und Admont zum großen, kostenpflichtigen (6 € pro Tag) Parkplatz an der Kummerbrücke, Ausgangspunkt für den Wasserfallweg auf die Hesshütte.

Den markierten Wasserfallweg zur Hesshütte folgen. Nach der letzten Versicherung dem Weg noch etwa 5min bis ca. 50 Meter vor dem Ebersangerbach folgen. Knapp davor kann man durch steiles aber recht gut gangbares Waldgelände in den Felsenkessel oberhalb der Wasserfälle absteigen/abseilen (Steinmänner bis Abseilstelle an Baum). Man visiert dabei die große Lärche an, die am Wandrand links vom Bachlauf steht. Kombination mit Hesshüttenbesuch möglich (Gehzeit vom Einstieg noch ca. 1 Std.).

Follow the marked Wasserfallweg trail to the Hesshütte. After the last safety anchor, continue along the trail for about 5 minutes until you’re approximately 50 meters from the Ebersangerbach. Just before reaching it, you can descend or rappel through steep but fairly easy-to-navigate wooded terrain into the rock basin above the waterfalls (cairns lead to the abseil point at a tree). Aim for the large larch tree standing at the edge of the cliff to the left of the stream. Can be combined with a visit to the Hesshütte (walking time from the entry is about 1 hour).

Tourenbeschreibung orografisch: 1. Abseiler von Baum (Schlinge mit Rapidglied) 35m über Felsbänder bis zur großen Lärche. 2. Stand rechts von großer Lärche an moosiger Platte - in den Schluchtgrund abseilen (2 BH + Schlinge + Rapidglied/Ring) 35m 3. Stand links vom Wasserfall 45m (2 BH+Schlinge+Rapidglied/Ring) * Schottriges Gehgelände 50m, am besten orogr. rechts vom Bach absteigen. 4. Stand hinter Felsblock im Bach (2 BH+Schlinge+Rapidglied) 40m (Kann umgangen werden, bis hierher Fluchtmöglichkeiten Links). 5. Stand Rechts in Nische direkt neben Bach (2 BH+Schlinge+Rapidglied) 50m. 6. Stand Links (2 BH+Schlinge+Rapidglied) 45m. 7. Stand Links an der Kante (Kettenstand) 100m genau bis unten. (3 Zwischenstände, Je nach 30 bzw. 50 m und 65m links) Der Stand nach 30m ist ein Kettenstand auf einem recht bequemen Band mit genug Platz für 3 Leute, etwas nach links versetzt. Bei 50m gibt es zwei schon ziemlich hinüber aussehende Stände in der Fallline vom obersten Stand. Vom Zwischenstand bei 30m könnte man einen etwas besseren Stand in einer kleinen Felsnische erreichen. Nach 65m gibt es noch einen neuen Hängestand an zwei Bolts, bei Wasserführung recht feucht. Fluchtmöglichkeit nach links an Felsband - Abseilmöglichkeiten an Bäumen zum Wanderweg. * 80 m Gehen. 8. Stand Rechts (1 BH+Rapidglied) 10 m 9. Stand Links (2 BH+Schlinge+Rapidglied) 20m direkt bis Kante (Zwischenstand links nach 15m(1 BH+Rapidglied) möglich aber sinnlos) 10. Stand Links - neuer Kettenstand (3 BH+Kette) ums Eck, von altem Stand (2 BH) führt ein 3m Seilgeländer hin. 80m genau bis zum Wanderweg. (Nach 15m gibt es einen neuen Haken mit Rapid links direkt an der Kante. Bei Wasserführung sehr feucht, Platz für 1 Person. Scharfe Kante nach 15m) Wanderweg quert, am Wanderweg absteigen bis sich der Weg wieder vom Bachbett entfernt 11. Stand links (1 BH + Rapidglied/Ring) 6m (etwas versteckt, kann leicht umgangen werden) 12. Stand rechts (1 BH + Schlinge) 25m 13. Stand links (1 BH + Rapidglied) 7m 14. Stand rechts (2 BH + Schlinge + Rapidglied) 15m *5 min gehen, dann nach rechts zum Wanderweg ausqueren

Orographic route description: 1. Rappel from a tree (slings with a quick link) 35 m down rock ledges to the large larch tree. 2. Belay station to the right of the large larch tree on a mossy slab—rappel down to the bottom of the gorge (2 carabiners + sling + quickdraw/ring) 35m 3. Belay station to the left of the waterfall 45m (2 carabiners + sling + quickdraw/ring) * Gravelly terrain 50m; best to descend orographically to the right of the stream. 4. Belay station behind a boulder in the stream (2 carabiners + sling + quickdraw) 40m (Can be bypassed; escape routes to the left up to this point). 5. Belay station on the right in a niche directly next to the stream (2 carabiners + sling + quickdraw) 50m. 6. Belay station on the left (2 carabiners + sling + quickdraw) 45m. 7. Belay station on the left at the edge (chain anchor) 100m, exactly to the bottom. (3 intermediate belays, at approximately 30 m, 50 m, and 65 m to the left) The belay after 30 m is a chain anchor on a fairly comfortable ledge with enough space for 3 people, slightly offset to the left. At 50 m, there are two belay stations that look pretty worn out, located in the fall line of the top belay station. From the intermediate belay station at 30 m, you could reach a slightly better belay station in a small rock niche. At 65 m, there is another new hanging belay on two bolts; it gets quite damp when the water is flowing. Escape route to the left along a rock ledge—rappelling options down trees to the hiking trail. * 80 m walk. 8th belay station on the right (1 bolt + quickdraw) 10 m 9th belay station on the left (2 bolts + sling + quickdraw) 20 m straight to the edge (intermediate belay station on the left after 15 m [1 bolt + quickdraw] is possible but pointless) 10. Belay station on the left—new chain anchor (3 carabiners + chain) around the corner; a 3-meter rope traverse leads there from the old belay station (2 carabiners). Exactly 80 meters to the hiking trail. (After 15 m, there is a new anchor with a quick link on the left, directly at the edge. Very wet when the water is flowing; space for 1 person. Sharp edge after 15 m) Crosses the hiking trail; descend along the trail until it moves away from the streambed again 11. Anchor point on the left (1 carabiner + rapid link/ring) 6 m (somewhat hidden, can be easily bypassed) 12. Belay station on the right (1 carabiner + rapid link) 25 m 13.
