Von der A10 (Tauernautobahn) bei Salzburg Süd abfahren. Gleich danach fährt man durch die Ortschaft Grödig und weiter (links) auf der L237 über Glanegg nach Fürstenbrunn. Am Ende der Ortschaft gibt es einen Umkehrplatz für den Autobus (noch vor der steilen Straße Richtung Großgmain!) Hier fährt man in den Brunntalweg ein. Entweder man parkt gleich nach dem großen Holzschaufelrad rechts oder man fährt noch über die Brücke und parkt das Auto am Parkplatz vor dem Untersberg Museum Fürstenbrunn.

Exit the A10 (Tauernautobahn) at Salzburg Süd. Immediately afterwards, drive through the village of Grödig and continue (left) on the L237 via Glanegg to Fürstenbrunn. At the exit of the village there is a turnaround area for the bus (before the steep road towards Großgmain!) Here you enter the Brunntalweg. You can either park on the right just after the large wooden paddle wheel or drive over the bridge and park your car in the parking lot in front of the Untersberg Museum Fürstenbrunn.

Direkt am Parkplatz sieht man den Glanbach (nicht Koppenbach). Vom Parkplatz aus folgt man auf der orographisch linken Bachseite den Brunntalweg bis zum Ende der Straße. Nach den letzten Häusern sieht man rechts eine Geschiebesperre (unterer Ausstieg Koppenbach). Direkt am markanten gr. Felsblock beginnt re. der kurze aber sehr steile und eher selten begangene Pfad in Richtung Geisterstadt hoch. Der Pfad führt entlang einer ehemaligen Marmorbruch Gleisentrasse die zum Teil durch den Felsen gesprengt wurde. Am Ende der Trassenfelswand (nach ca. 15min Aufstieg ca. 640m) kommt rechts eine kleine Befestigungsmauer. Entlang der Mauer geht es gerade aus zu einem alten steilen Pfad mit Seilgeländerresten bis in den Bach auf ca. 615m runter.

Directly at the parking lot you can see the Glanbach (not Koppenbach). From the parking lot, follow the Brunntalweg on the orographic left side of the stream to the exit of the road. After the last houses, you will see a boulder barrier on the right (lower exit Koppenbach). The short but very steep and rarely used path up towards the ghost town begins right at the striking large boulder. The path leads along a former marble quarry track that has been partially blasted through the rock. At the exit of the track rock face (after approx. 15min ascent approx. 640m) there is a small fortification wall on the right. Along the wall, continue straight ahead to an old steep path with the remains of a rope railing down to the stream at approx. 615m.

Der Koppenbach wird von den Einheimischen auch Teufelsschlucht genannt und wird in den meisten Karten fälschicherweise als Glanbach benannt. Der Glanbach beginnt aber erst am Fuße des Berges (beim Zusammenfluss vom Koppenbach, Kühllbach und Fürstenbrunner Quelhöhle). Die kurze, eher nach Regenfällen interessante Schlucht ist in vegetationsreicher Umgebung mit mehreren kleinen Stufen und rutschigen Stellen. Kleine Rinnen sollten aufgrund der geringen Breite besser abgeseilt als gerutscht werden. An der höchsten Stufe (20m Kaskade) befindet sich ein Kettenstand, sonst meist nur Inox Einzellhaken. Ab der Mittagszeit hat man den besten Lichteinfall und das saftige grüne Moos bietet einen schönen Kontrast zur dunklen Schluchtenumgebung. Für einen kurzen Vor-/Nachmittagshupfer durch eine kleine Schlucht oder als Kombination zur benachbarten „Rosittenbach“ zahlt sich die Tour allemal aus. Geschichtlich interessant und in Kürze erreichbar sind auch die „Geisterstadt“ (Marmorbruch), Fürstenbrunner Quellhöhle (erbaut 1875), die kleine Grasslhöhle (Esoteriker Kraftplatz) und das Karlohr (22m Schachthöhle). Alle diese Ziele können mit einer kleineren Rundwanderung besichtigt werden, Als Ausgangspunkt empfiehlt sich der Zustieg über den alten Gleisenweg zur Geisterstadt (siehe Internet).

The Koppenbach is also called the Devil's Gorge by the locals and is incorrectly named Glanbach on most maps. However, the Glanbach only begins at the foot of the mountain (at the confluence of the Koppenbach, Kühllbach and Fürstenbrunner Quelhöhle). The short canyon, which is more interesting after rainfall, is rich in vegetation with several small steps and slippery spots. Small chutes are better rappelled than slid due to their narrow width. At the highest step (20m cascade) there is a chain anchor, otherwise mostly only Inox single pitons. The best light is available from midday and the lush green moss provides a beautiful contrast to the dark gorge surroundings. For a short morning/afternoon hop through a small canyon or as a combination with the neighboring "Rosittenbach", the tour is always worthwhile. The "ghost town" (marble quarry), Fürstenbrunn spring cave (built in 1875), the small Grassl cave (esoteric power place) and the Karlohr (22m shaft cave) are also historically interesting and within easy reach. All of these destinations can be visited on a shorter circular hike. As a starting point, we recommend access via the old track path to the ghost town (see Internet).

Man hat zwei Möglichkeiten: 1. Man verlässt den Bach nach dem markanten Klemmblock rechts auf ca.540m und trifft in Kürze auf den steilen Zustiegsweg. 2. Man nach dem markanten Klemmblock umgeht man die letzten Kaskaden auf der linken Seite und seilt sich am Schluss ca. 20m von einem Baum ab. Kurz darauf steigt man vor der Geschiebesperre auf ca. 500m rechts aus dem Bach aus und folgt der Straße zum Parkplatz.

You have two options: 1. leave the stream after the prominent clamping block on the right at approx. 540m and soon reach the steep access path. 2. after the prominent clamping block, you bypass the last cascades on the left and at the end rappel approx. 20m from a tree. Shortly afterwards, exit the stream on the right before the bedload barrier and follow the road to the parking lot.
