From Bad Tölz via Lenggries to Sylvensteinsee. Turn left there and drive 5.6 km on the B 307 towards Achensee. Immediately after the road bridge over the Walchen (Achenbach), park your vehicle on the right. Alternatively, take the B 181 from Achensee in the direction of Lenggries (17.4 km from Camping Achensee).

From the parking lot, take the forest path that heads west towards the Hühnerbach. Then high above the Hühnerbach in a southerly direction. At just over 900 m above sea level, a grassy slope on the right leads almost down to the stream (entry). It is advisable to approach the Hühnerbach via the Pitzbach (see there).

After a short stretch in the open streambed, you come to the first steps and the short but attractive dark gorge (fixed ropes in 2016, as it is commercially accessible). After the dark gorge, you can exit to the right up to the approach path. The canyon is now relatively open and - apart from another rappel - presents itself as a hiking canyon. Finally, the Hühnerbach flows into the Walchen, which you swim through to the far bank. This was the case until the LRA Bad Tölz/Wolfratshausen banned access, which was mainly directed against commercially run groups. As the Hühnerbach is a border, the ban can only affect the German side of the stream. So in the stream itself, which forms the national border, always keep to the right in the Hühnersbach on the Austrian side :) At the exit, however, turn right before reaching the Walchen. The exit is well marked and easy to recognize.

However, if you still land on the north bank of the Walchen, turn east, meet the main road after a few minutes and follow it back to the parking lot. At the exit on the Austrian side, always follow the trail, finally reaching the forest path and the parking lot.

Automatisch importiert von Descente-Canyon.com für Canyon Hühnerbach At the beginning of the canyon (at the end of Pitzbach), you will go a few hundred meters in/ round the river and next, there are 2/3 small jumps/toboggans and when the walls of the canyon are going closer, there is a 4/5 m high rappel. On the walls of the canyon are a lot of bolts, but all of them are removed (by flex, the rock is also damaged here. 2 of them are damaged by water). It´s not possible to go further - we did not try it, so I do not know if there are any bolts on the next rappel. When I walked the Hühnerbach in July 2023, all the hooks from the Dunkelklamm had been knocked out or the chain links had been unscrewed. So you should take a few chain links with nuts with you. At 2 abseiling points it is better to abseil first and check whether the water depth is sufficient for a jump. The exit before the Walchen on the right was still well equipped.
