It’s actually a fairly ordinary canyon in the Bernese Oberland, but getting there is such a challenging alpine trek that the journey alone is an adventure in itself. The canyon follows a crevice and is sometimes less than 1 meter wide.

Im Urbachtal beim Mürvorsess parkieren für die südliche Zustiegsvariante. Für die Nördlichere über Schellibach ist ein Shuttle notwendig.

Park at Mürvorsess in the Urbachtal for the southern approach route. For the northern route via Schellibach, a shuttle is required.

Der Zustieg ist das Aufwändigste dieser Tour. Erstbegehung wurde über den Äugstgumm gemacht, und von dort mehr als 400m Abgeseilt um zur Schlucht zu gelangen. In 2024 wurde dann der Schellibach eingebohrt und dann in der Wand steil rüber traversiert.

Access is the most challenging part of this route. The first ascent was made via the Äugstgumm, and from there, climbers rappelled more than 400 meters to reach the canyon. In 2024, bolts were placed on the Schellibach, and climbers then traversed steeply across the wall.

Das einzige Einfache an der Tour ist der Rückweg, der ist knapp 500m lang übers Feld.

The only easy part of the hike is the way back, which is just under 500 meters across the field.

Kleines Einzugsgebiet, jedoch können viele Lawinen da runter kommen, deswegen sollte man bis in Spätsommer mit der Begehung warten.

The catchment area is small, but many avalanches can come down there, so you should wait until late summer before hiking there.
