Von Sondrio nordwärts in Richtung Chiesa in Valmalenco. Diese Ortschft, die jenseits des Flusses liegt, passieren und unmittelbar nach Überquerung des von Osten kommenden Baches rechts ab in Richtung Lanzada, Tornadri. Nach diesen Orten weiter und in vielen Serpentinen steil hinauf. Nach Durchfahren einiger Tunnels erreichen wir einen großen Parkplatz mit einem Gastronomiebetrieb. Hier links ab, über den Cormor nach Franscia und in der Nähe der Brücke über den Laterna parken (30 km ab Sondrio).
From Sondrio head north towards Chiesa in Valmalenco. Pass this village, which lies on the other side of the river, and immediately after crossing the stream coming from the east, turn right towards Lanzada, Tornadri. After these villages, continue on a steep ascent with many hairpin bends. After passing through several tunnels, we reach a large parking lot with a restaurant. Turn left here, cross the Cormor to Franscia and park near the bridge over the Laterna (30 km from Sondrio).

Den Weg auf der Ostseite des Laterna aufwärts, später den gelben Markierungen (insbes. Pfeilen) unter den Felswänden in Bachnähe folgen. Der Einstieg erfolgt rechts (nördlich) vom Seitenbach; wem der Einstieg zu exponiert und glatt ist, kann ab Baum 15 m abseilen in den Schluchtgrund.
Follow the path on the east side of the Laterna upwards, later following the yellow markings (especially arrows) under the rock faces near the stream. The entry is to the right (north) of the side stream; if the entry is too exposed and slippery, you can rappel 15 m from the tree into the bottom of the gorge.

In aller Regel ordentlicher Durchsatz an grauem kalten Gletscherwasser. Die Sicherungen sind bei viel Wasserdurchsatz unzureichend und die Abseilvorgänge können dann nicht mehr außerhalb des "Strahls" erfolgen. Bei etwa halber Strecke Notausstiegsmöglichkeit nach links, vgl. Video.
Generally a good flow of cold, gray glacier water. The belays are inadequate when there is a lot of water flow and abseiling can then no longer take place outside the "stream". There is an emergency exit to the left about halfway down, see video.
