Résumé:
The Malin is a beautiful canyon featuring short abseils at the beginning and a scenic larger abseil at the end. With normal water levels, the gorge is relatively easy.
Accès:
Drive to the village of Cognin-les-Gorges, turn off there and follow the signs towards Gorges du Nan. Cross the bridge and park at the designated parking area.
Approche (15 min):
Walk back across the bridge and turn left. Pass the house and follow the hiking trail uphill. Once you reach the paved road again, continue walking until you arrive at the hairpin bend. At the bend, leave the road and follow a narrow trail leading down to the stream. The trail is hard to spot.
Tour (1 h 30):
The canyon begins with several small abseils and concludes with a final descent of approximately 35 meters. You need a safty line (handline) to get to the anchor.
Retour (15 min):
After the final abseil, follow the stream until it joins with another. Continue 10 meter downstream along the main flow and look for a steep path on the right-hand side. This trail leads back to the road. Follow the road to return to your car. Note: Do not exit the canyon directly at the 35-meter waterfall, as this area is private property.
