Wir verlassen die A-10 (Genua - Ventemiglia) bei der Ausfahrt Albenga, fahren einige hundert Meter in Richtung Albenga, um dann auf die SS-453 in Richtung Borghetto d'Arroscia, Pieve di Teco abzubiegen.
Nach 16 km und einem Tunnel erreicht man die Ortschaft Ranzo, wo wir von der SS-453 rechts abbiegen und hinauf nach Aquila d'Arroscia (495 m) steuern. Wir durchqueren die Ortschaft und nehmen am Ortsende die Straße nach links in Richtung Levarone.
Falls die Auffahrt über Levarone erfolgt, ist die Abzweigung vor Aquila d'Arroscia. An dieser Abzweigung 200 m nordwestlich Aquila d'Arroscia geht es in Richtung Caprauna hinauf zu einem Sattel (828 m) mit Kapelle und Informationstafel (wo der Rundwanderweg dargestellt ist, den man als Rückweg benutzt). Wir folgen dem Sträßchen weiter etwa 2,5 km, bis wir auf eine größere freie Fläche rechts der Straße stoßen. Hier stellen wir das Auto ab.
We leave the A-10 (Genoa - Ventemiglia) at the Albenga exit, drive a few hundred meters in the direction of Albenga and then turn onto the SS-453 in the direction of Borghetto d'Arroscia, Pieve di Teco.
After 16 km and a tunnel, you reach the village of Ranzo, where you turn right off the SS-453 and head up to Aquila d'Arroscia (495 m). Cross the village and at the end take the road to the left towards Levarone.
If the ascent is via Levarone, the turn-off is before Aquila d'Arroscia. At this junction, 200 m northwest of Aquila d'Arroscia, the road climbs towards Caprauna to a saddle (828 m) with a chapel and information board (showing the circular route to be used on the way back). Follow the road for about 2.5 km until you come to a large open area to the right of the road. We park the car here.

Nach der 7-m-Abseiler folgt noch eine Abkletterei über 3 m, sowie eine 3-m-Rutsche, bevor der Bach verflacht. An der Felswand rechts zieht ein gemauerter Steig herunter (evtl. Aufstiegsweg?). Nach ca. 50 m erfolgt hier der Ausstieg nach rechts auf einen Waldweg.
Will man noch die letzten beiden Abseiler hinunter in das Flussbett des Pennavaira mitnehmen, muss man insoweit den Wiederaufstieg am Seil in Kauf nehmen, da sich über den Pennavaire flussabwärts kein Ausstieg (auf absehbarer Strecke) eröffnet. Laut Beschreibung bei Geuna, Ruotolo gibt es aber einen Ausstieg, wenn man den Pennavaira einige Meter flussaufwärts geht.
Vom bezeichneten Ausstieg folgt man dem erwähnten Waldweg den Pennavaira entlang flussabwärts. Dort wo er nach grundsätzlich ebenem Verlauf steiler abfällt, zieht rechts der schon erwähnte Wanderpfad hinauf. Unter der Felswand haben wir uns rechts gehalten (besser vielleicht links?). Der Pfad zieht wieder einige hundert Meter eben dahin in Richtung Rio Lerca. Wo er nach unten abbiegt (hier wäre wahrscheinlich die schnellere Aufstiegsmöglichkeit - vom Ausstiegsplatz auf dem gemauerten Pfad unter der Felwand direkt am rechten Ufer des Ferraia hinauf? vgl. Beschreibung bei Geuna, Ruotolo) sind wir geradeaus auf die Rippe und auf dieser unschwierig hinaufgeklettert, bis wir das Sträßchen erreicht haben.

After the 7 m rappel, there is a 3 m rappel and a 3 m slide before the stream flattens out. A brick path runs down the rock face on the right (possibly an ascent route?). After approx. 50 m, exit to the right onto a forest path.
If you want to take the last two rappels down into the riverbed of the Pennavaira, you have to accept the re-ascent on the rope, as there is no exit (in the foreseeable future) downstream via the Pennavaire. According to the description at Geuna, Ruotolo, however, there is an exit if you walk a few meters upstream along the Pennavaira.
From the marked exit, follow the forest path along the Pennavaira downstream. Where it drops more steeply after a basically flat course, the aforementioned hiking trail ascends to the right. We kept to the right under the rock face (maybe better left?). The path continues for a few hundred meters in the direction of Rio Lerca. Where it turns downwards (this would probably be the quicker ascent option - from the exit point on the brick path under the rock face directly up the right bank of the Ferraia? see description at Geuna, Ruotolo), we climbed straight ahead onto the rib and up this without difficulty until we reached the little road.

L'eau n'est pas très propre, c'est étrange parce qu'il n'y a rien en amont. Amarrages en bon état. Il y a une variante bien plus courte que le retour décrit sur la fiche : à la fin, remonter rive droite et arriver sur une piste qu'on prend vers la droite jusqu'à revenir au canyon. Suivre ensuite la canalisation jusqu'à récupérer le chemin balisé.
