Aktuell sehr gute Bedingungen; oberhalb der Holzbrücke gibt es keine Abseiler mehr, der erste kommt unterhalb der Brücke an einem grossen Felsblock mittig in der Schlucht; etwas Holz, das aber nirgends problematisch ist; leider trübt man das ansonsten klare Wasser selber durch die Begehung ein... Ausgestiegen links steil hoch vor der Autobrücke. Durchflussmenge Görbsbach ca. 0,40 m3/s - aber ob der Bach als Referenz taugt?

Conditions are currently very good; there are no more rappellers above the wooden bridge—the first one reaches a large boulder in the middle of the canyon just below the bridge; there’s some driftwood, but it isn’t a problem anywhere; unfortunately, we ourselves cloud the otherwise clear water as we hike through it.... After exiting, head steeply uphill to the left before the car bridge. Flow rate of the Görbsbach: approx. 0.40 m³/s—but is the stream a suitable reference?

Stände okay (2 Haken erneuert). Recht rutschig, im unteren Teil besserer Grip. Wir hatten Seilreste dabei, alle Fixsele,die wir gebraucht haben, waren aber da und ok.

The anchors were okay (2 anchors replaced). Pretty slippery, but better grip in the lower section. We brought some extra rope, but all the fixed ropes we needed were already there and in good condition.

In der Linksserpentine bei den letzten Häusern von Portels rechts den Waldweg Richtung Einstieg. Nach ca 300 Metern öffnet sich der Wald ein zweites Mal. Dort parkieren rechts am Wiesenrand. Diese Wiese runter, dann rechts in den Wald zum Einstieg. Erster Haken rechts an der Vorderwand bei der Geschiebesperre. Mindestens 12 bis 15 Abseiler. Nur wenige Haken. Viel Improvisieren am reichlich vorhandenen Holz und an Klemmblöcken. Bohrmaterial für Notfälle empfehlenswert. Viel abwechslungsreiches Abklettern in einer beeindruckenden Schlucht mit wunderschönem (oft rotem) Gestein. Sehr schön vor allem die kurze erste Engstelle und gegen Schluss zwei beeindruckende Abseiler. Die ganze Schlucht ist heute sehr griffig. Abfluss: Gemäss hydrodaten.sg.ch hatten wir einen Abfluss von 0.57 m3/sek oder ca 570 Liter/sek. Debit Correct. Besser eingerichtet wäre das für uns eine sehr lohnende Schlucht.

At the left-hand switchback near the last houses in Portels, turn right onto the forest trail toward the entry. After about 300 meters, the forest opens up a second time. Park there on the right, at the edge of the meadow. Head down this meadow, then turn right into the forest toward the entry. First anchor on the right on the front wall near the debris barrier. At least 12 to 15 rappellers. Only a few anchors. Lots of improvising using the abundant wood and clamping blocks. Drilling equipment recommended for emergencies. Lots of varied downclimbing in an impressive canyon with beautiful (often red) rock. The short first narrow section is especially beautiful, and there are two impressive rappels toward the end. The entire canyon offers excellent grip today. Flow rate: According to hydrodaten.sg.ch, the flow rate was 0.57 m³/sec, or approximately 570 liters/sec. Flow rate correct. If it were better equipped, this would be a very rewarding canyon for us.

Landschaftlich wunderschöne Tour! Anfangs etwas Holz, das aber nicht gross stört. Der Mini-Pool und der Abschnitt vor dem 70er bis Abseiler nach dem 70er sind grandios! Nach der Fassung war der Bach quasi trocken. Seilbahnbedienung (aktuell 6 CHF) funktioniert problemlos.

A scenic tour! There’s a bit of wood at the start, but it’s not really a problem. The mini pool and the part leading up to the 70-meter rappel, as well as the rappel itself, are fantastic! After the pool, the stream was practically dry. The cable car (currently 6 CHF) works without a hitch.

Da ist kürzlich wohl viel Geschiebe durch, griffig zu gehen, Wasser klar und noch grad erfrischend; viel Holz (das aktuell angenehm duftet), das nicht gross stört und teils beim Abklettern hilft. Beim Seiteneinstieg ist der Zugang zum Baum stark mit Schnittgut verblockt.

There’s been a lot of activity here recently—the path is easy to walk on, the water is clear and still refreshing; there’s a lot of wood (which currently smells pleasant) that doesn’t get in the way too much and actually helps with downclimbing in some places. At the side entrance, the path to the tree is heavily blocked by cut branches.

Bei der Bruthitze natürlich perfekt. Wasser relativ klar (waren ev. die ersten im Bach) und griffig zu gehen. Dank wenig Wasser einige Stellen zum ersten Mal abgeseilt (zB Kanonenrohr und den Abseiler davor). Kadavergeruch (kommt von RG) unterhalb der Kanonenrohr- und Jump&Slide-Wand...

Perfect in this sweltering heat, of course. The water was relatively clear (we might have been the first ones in the stream) and offered good footing. Thanks to the low water level, we rappelled down a few sections for the first time (e.g., Kanonenrohr and the rappel point before it). The smell of a carcass (coming from RG) below the Kanonenrohr and Jump&Slide walls...

Trotz wenig Wasser schön (und kaum rutschig) zu gehen - dadurch auch in den Genuss von zwei noch nie gemachten Abseilern gekommen; (natürlich) einige Gruppen angetroffen, dadurch starke Wassereintrübung. Seit meiner letzten Begehung (Juli 2024) haben sich ein paar Stellen doch etwas verändert.

Despite the low water level, it was pleasant (and hardly slippery) to hike—which also allowed me to enjoy two rappels I’d never done before; I encountered (of course) a few groups, which caused the water to become quite murky. Since my last hike (July 2024), a few spots have changed somewhat.

Zu zweit begangen; Schlucht aktuell sehr, sehr rutschig! Wir haben den Einstieg ab Alpwirtschaft Lütholdsmatt (bis Oktober geöffnet, ideal für Apero oder Dinner nach der Begehung ;-)) gewählt; Verankerungen iO, bei normalem Wasserstand ist die Sprungrutsche besser, als die Umgehung im Wald oben; der hohe Abseiler passt mit Zwischenstand gut mit einem 70er-Seil.

We did it as a pair; the canyon is currently very, very slippery! We chose the entry at the Lütholdsmatt mountain restaurant (open until October, perfect for an aperitif or dinner after the hike ;-)) Anchors are fine; at normal water levels, the jump slide is better than the bypass through the woods above; the high rappel point works well with a 70-meter rope and an intermediate belay.

Bisschen rutschig, aber nicht überall.
