Exit the A26 highway at Verbania and continue for a few kilometers. After passing a roundabout, turn left towards Cambiasca/Premeno. Once in Trobaso (Verbania), turn left at the second roundabout and keep following the signs for Valle Intrasca. Enter the valley and drive up to Scareno. Park, if possible, at the end of the road or shortly before it.

Enter the village (please remain quiet and respectful as you pass near the houses) and follow the mule track towards Alpe Piaggia. After a 30-minute walk on mostly flat ground, cross a bridge (just a bit further ahead on the right, a marked trail leads in 10 minutes to the canyon exit, where you can check the water flow). From there, begin the uphill trek toward the alpine pasture. Once you reach Piaggia, head above the houses toward a grassy ridge where you will find a flat trail leading into the Scogno Valley. Pass some ruins and continue until you reach the stream. A bit lower down, you will see the abandoned hamlet of Scogno.

22 waterfalls, maximum height 35 m. Several waterfalls—especially in the upper section of the canyon—are not equipped with bolts or chains; descend off natural anchors (AN). There are no obvious escape routes, although the wooded slopes are often accessible.

At the final waterfall, under a small stone bridge, you will reach a tributary. Follow the stream on the right bank up to the bridge you crossed during the approach. Alternative: Walk back through the woods until you reach the trail that crosses the small stone bridge and rejoins the approach route. Head back to Scareno and your car. Stop for a snack at Tiziano's at the Scareno club—it's priceless.

Once the snow has melted, the water flow generally does not pose any problems.
