Es ist schwer die passenden Bedingungen für eine Begehung zu finden. Die Schlucht ist lang, sehr technisch und nur bei niedrigen Temperaturen Ende Oktober zu begehen. Im oberen Abschnitt ist mit Eis zu rechnen. Zu niedrig dürfen die Temperaturen daher auch nicht sein, da die Eismenge dann zu groß wird.

Leider ist die Straße zur Staumauer in der Zeit in der eine Begehung möglich ist höchstwahrscheinlich gesperrt (Wintersperre). Wenn nicht kann in der Nähe der Staumauer parkiert werden. Ansonsten befindet sich eine Parkmöglichkeit bei Bonatchiesse auf einer Höhe von ca. 1580m (eingetragene Koordinate). Es ist dann anzuraten E-Bikes oder normale Fahrräder zu benutzen, um bis auf die Staumauer zu kommen 5,3km/420hm.

Der Straße durch den Tunnel bis auf die Staumauer folgen. Die Staumauer queren und auf der Nordseite den Tunnel passieren. Nach kurzer Zeit erreicht man eine Leiter, mit der der Aufstieg beginnt. Dem Weg folgen, bis man auf einer Höhe von ca. 2340 hm auf ein technisches Gebäude mit einer Leiter und einer Art Messapparatur trift. Hier nach links (NW) abzweigen. Der weitere Weg ist nicht auf der Swisstopo verzeichnet, aber auf OSM Karten. Er ist jedoch relativ offensichtlich und zum Teil mit Stahlketten gesichert. Auf einer Höhe von ca. 2720m zweigt man weglos zum Einstieg ab.

Follow the road through the tunnel up to the dam wall. Cross the dam wall and pass through the tunnel on the north side. After a short time you will reach a ladder where the ascent begins. Follow the path until you come to a technical building with a ladder and some kind of measuring apparatus at an altitude of approx. 2340 m above sea level. Turn left (NW) here. The rest of the trail is not marked on the Swisstopo, but on OSM maps. However, it is relatively obvious and partly secured with steel chains. At an altitude of approx. 2720m, the path branches off to the entry.

Das Wasser vom Gletscher ist extrem kalt und es muss immer mit Eis gerechnet werden. Auch mit Eisschlag am hohen Abseiler. Nach dem ersten Abschnitt kommt eine stark eingeschnittene Passage, die für einige Zeit keine Fluchtmöglichkeit bietet. Eine Begehung sollte daher nur durch sehr erfahrene Teams erfolgen, die sich bei diesen Bedingungen schnell bewegen können. Je nach Eismenge könnte es erforderlich sein, eine größere Menge zusätzlicher Haken zu setzen oder entsprechend Stände im Eis zu setzen. Die untere Hälfte des Canyons ist gefasst. Es sind daher unbedingt Informationen vom Betreiber einzuholen bzw. es sollte mit der Begehung gewartet werden, bis der Betrieb ca. Mitte Oktober eingestellt wird. Seilbedarf: Der höchste Wasserfall hat eine Höhe von ca. 90m und 4 Stände (ca. 20m, ca. 25m, ca. 50m, ca. 15m (bitte anpassen, wenn genau Werte bekannt sind)). Die unteren beiden Stände können abhängig vom Wasserstand und der Vereisung nicht nutzbar sein. Vom zweiten Stand aus wird ein 85m Seil benötigt, um durchzuseilen. Bei niedrigem Wasserstand und geringer Vereisung reicht ein 60m Seil.
