Summary:
It starts off a bit overgrown and monotonous but gradually becomes more interesting. The final gorge is the most interesting part. The exit via the via ferrata adds to its appeal.
Access:
We’ll set off from Sant Llorenç de Morunys towards Solsona via the Coll del Jou. At the pass, we’ll take the LV-4241-b road. Right at the start of a long straight stretch, we’ll come across the Cap del Pla guesthouse. A few metres further on, a road branches off to the right towards Montpol – Pont del Clop. We’ll take this road and pass a farmhouse. A few metres further on, the road forks and we’ll take the left-hand fork. A little further on, there’s another junction; this time, we’ll turn right. Once past Pont del Clop, we’ll continue uphill, passing the Montpol chapel, before reaching a junction where we’ll head towards Cambrils. Keep an eye out for a track branching off to the right signposted ‘Mas Carissols’. We’ll head down this track, pass Mas Carissols, and then ignore a track on the left. After passing some ruins, we’ll reach a turn-off to the right with a sign for a hunting reserve, where we’ll turn off. We’ll head down for about 400 metres and, on the right, a track branches off, leading up to the summit and leaving the main track behind. Right at the summit, 30 metres away, we’ll park the car.
Approach (5 min):
The ravine is just behind us. We’ll carry on along the track (to the right) and in ten minutes we’ll come to the entrance to the ravine at a bend.
Tour (3 h):
This descent, in places, is reminiscent of some of the conglomerate gorges in the Sierra de Guara. It starts off a bit overgrown and monotonous but gradually becomes more interesting. The final gorge is the most interesting part. The exit via the via ferrata adds to its appeal.
Return (1 h):
Right at the end of the ravine, just before reaching the Riu Fred, the ‘Extasy of Flying’ via ferrata (K1, 100 m) climbs up to the left, taking us to the ridge. We’ll climb all the way up the ridge until we reach a track that will lead us to the main track and back to the car.
