Summary:
Mostly wide big flow canyon in amazing green schist and marble. Pretty big day due to the rough hiking track on the ridge.
Access:
The Central Cross Island Highway that goes through Taroko has many closures, one of them is at night (after 17:00), some of it is due to Work in the gorge section (only opens in 2-3 short intervalls during the day). Best is to head into it as early as possible, as it will be a long day.
Approach (1 h):
From the parking, walk over the wide flat ridge to 1700m and then bushbash down to the creek, starting at 1450m-1500m of elevation.
Tour (5 h):
Mostly wide drops where you go down just next to the water. While not too much enclosed, this canyon is like a museum of rocks. The colors are amazing.
Return (4 h):
The canyon ends in the bigger river. There it's important to keep an eye out beforehand for the way up again, as there is no real track, and it's very steep. Also once you get onto the "ridge walk", expect it to be tough. Bring gloves and long sleeves because of the cutting grass.

Unfortunately, we were given very inaccurate information and set off along the road at an altitude of 2000m. There are only 2 waterfalls up to 1500m. We ran out of time in the canyon, so we skipped the last part, which is the narrowest. We left the path at about 1350m, where there used to be a suspension bridge over the canyon.
Hydrology:
Medium Sized catchment area, mountains here are often in the fog.
