Talseite: Auf dem Abholparkplatz für Geländewagen (gegenüber der Kirche) am Rivière des Galets parken. Bergseite: Nach Sans Soucis hinauffahren (erste Ausfahrt nach dem Rivière des Galets), die „Canalisation des Orangers“ ist ausgeschildert; in der Nähe des Stausees parken.

Valley side: Park in the pickup lot for SUVs (across from the church) at Rivière des Galets. Uphill side: Drive up toward Sans Soucis (first exit after Rivière des Galets); the “Canalisation des Orangers” is signposted; park near the reservoir.

Vom Stausee aus dem Weg (gelbe Markierungen) folgen, der etwa 20 Minuten lang bergauf führt, und dann bis zur Wasserleitung weitergehen. Entlang der gesamten Wasserleitung der Orangenbäume gehen und an der Kreuzung mit dem GR diesem bis zur Schlucht hinunterfolgen.

From the reservoir, follow the trail (marked in yellow), which leads uphill for about 20 minutes, and then continue on to the water pipeline. Walk along the entire length of the water pipeline past the orange trees, and at the intersection with the GR trail, follow it down to the canyon.

Schöne, sehr felsige Schlucht… Die Felswände im ersten Abschnitt sind wirklich toll, die Becken sind wunderschön und der Einstieg geht flüssig weiter… Ein schöner 14-Meter-Sprung inmitten einer tollen Atmosphäre. Danach folgt ein etwas mühsamerer Abschnitt mit Bouldern und kleinen Abseilstellen… aber manche mögen das ja!! :) Der dritte Abschnitt ist rundum toll mit einer schönen Schlucht. Kurz gesagt: eine hübsche kleine Schlucht!! Die Ausrüstung ist sehr gut… An einigen Seillängen gibt es auch Ausrüstung für den Nicht-Hochwasserbetrieb, deren Zustand wir jedoch nicht überprüft haben. Einige Abschnitte sind gut eingefasst. Man sollte daran denken, eine Nummer für einen Geländewagen (und ein Handy mit Empfang) zu haben, wenn man auf dem Rückweg nicht noch weitere 2 30 Stunden laufen will...

A beautiful, very rocky canyon… The rock walls in the first part are really amazing, the pools are gorgeous, and the entry flows smoothly from there… A lovely 14-meter jump in the midst of a great atmosphere. This is followed by a slightly more challenging part with boulders and short rappels… but some people actually like that!! :) The third part is great all around with a beautiful canyon. In short: a pretty little canyon!! The gear is very good… On some pitches, there’s also gear for non-flood conditions, though we didn’t check its condition. Some parts are well-secured. You should make sure to have the number for an off-road vehicle (and a cell phone with service) if you don’t want to end up walking another 2 or 30 hours on the way back...

Man gelangt zum Ufer des Rivière des Galets, geht am linken Ufer ein Stück hinunter und erreicht so den GR-Wanderweg im Tal von Mafate. Mit zwei Fahrzeugen haben wir die Geländewagen gerufen (Achtung: Die Schranke für Geländewagen schließt jetzt um 18 Uhr, maximal 4 Geländewagen).

You’ll reach the banks of the Rivière des Galets, walk down the left bank for a short distance, and thus reach the GR hiking trail in the Mafate Valley. We called for two off-road vehicles (Note: The gate for off-road vehicles now closes at 6:00 p.m.; a maximum of 4 off-road vehicles are allowed).
