Parken Sie ein Auto an der Fischfarm im Chao da Ribeira Tal ganz am Ende der Piste (Siehe GPS Daten Parkplatz Ausstieg). Hier findet sich ein Infoschild zum Canyoning. Mit dem zweiten Auto fahren Sie zuerst entlang der VE2 RICHTUNG Porto Moniz und dann über Ribeira de Janela (Vorsicht, die Ausfahrt liegt direkt am Ende des Tunnels dos Casais) entlang der ER 209 auf das Rabacal Plateau bis zum Einstiegsparkplatz (siehe GPS Daten, 17,5 km Strecke ab dem Tunnelende). Hier findet sich ein Infoschild zu den verschiedenen Canyons. Auf diesem ist (Stand April 2026) die Queimado Tour nicht erwähnt. Wenn Sie nur einen PKW zur Verfügung haben und sehr sportlich sind, fahren Sie direkt zum oberen Parkplatz Einstieg.

Folgen Sie der breiten Piste (Vereda da Terra Cha), die neben dem Infoschild beginnt für gute 2km, ungefähr 100m bevor Sie eine Pistenkreuzung erreichen, führt ein meist zugewachsener Pfad durch das Gestrüpp zum Einstieg der Tour. Leider wächst die Vegetation aufgrund der Feuchtigkeit sehr üppig, was in einem Jahr noch als Zustieg taugt, kann im Folgejahr schon unpassierbar sein.

Follow the wide dirt road (Vereda da Terra Cha) that starts next to the information sign for a good 2 km, about 100 m before you reach a crossroads, a mostly overgrown path leads through the undergrowth to the entry point of the tour. Unfortunately, the vegetation grows very lush due to the humidity, so what may be suitable for access one year may be impassable the following year.

Die Tour beginnt direkt am Einstieg und ist hier fast immer trocken. Sie setzt sich intensiv mit zahlreichen Abseilern fort und wird am zweiten Wasserfall von zahlreichen Quellen gespeist. Im Verlaufe der Tour speisen diverse Zuflüsse den Bach. Der Höhepunkt ist definitiv die 105 Meter Kaskade, die in vier Abschnitten abgeseilt wird: Kurzer Zubringer 7m, 35m, 30m, 40m. Der Zwischenstand nach dem 35 m Wasserfall liegt weit außerhalb der Abseillinie orografisch rechts. Er ist bei hohem Wasserstand und entsprechend rutschigem Gestein nur über die zwei unteren Umlenker zu erreichen. Zusätzlich ist er an überhängendem Fels sehr hoch gebohrt und der Zugang ist durchaus sportlich. Außerdem handelt es sich fast um einen reinen Hängestand. Mit Gruppen ab vier Personen empfiehlt es sich dringend, Seile für alle drei Längen mitzunehmen, denn an den typsich Madeirensischen Standplätzen ist meist nur für zwei Personen Platz. Es gibt zwar nach 19 Abseilern einen Zwischenausstieg an der Levada do Norte, über die man zurück zum oberen Parkplatz gelangt, doch der Weg ist weit und steil. Im Normalfall wird auch der untere Abschnitt bis zur Levada do Seixal begangen. Dieser bietet seiltechnisch weniger anspruchsvolle Wasserfälle, doch auch wenn die Levada do Norte einen Großteil des Wassers abzapft, ist insbesondere im Winter und Frühjahr dieser Abschnitt nicht auf die leichte Schulter zu nehmen, Stichwort Zuflüsse. Landschaftlich ist dieser Teil mit seinen 15 Abseilstellen in jedem Fall ebenfalls ein Highlight. Kurz nach dem Zusammenfluss mit dem Hortela Canyon endet die Tour auf der Levada do Seixal. Für den letzten Abseiler gibt es zwei Möglichkeiten: 1) rechtes Ufer vom Baum, Zwischenstand an der Kante, diese Linie führt direkt auf die Levada 2) linkes Ufer, Seilgeländer und Abseilstand weit oben, diese Linie führt zu einem Tunnelfenster, in das man bei moderatem Wasserstand in den Levadatunnel gelangt. Achtung: der Eingang ist hinter dem herabstürzenden Wasser nicht ganz einfach zu finden. Außerdem führt diese Linie auf einen weiteren Stand, etwas weiter unten, von dem man den unteren Teil des Hortela anschließen kann.

The tour begins directly at the entry point and is almost always dry here. It continues intensively with numerous rappels and is fed by numerous springs at the second waterfall. Over the course of the tour, various tributaries feed the stream. The highlight is definitely the 105-metre cascade, which is rappelled in four parts: Short feeder 7m, 35m, 30m, 40m. The intermediate belay after the 35m waterfall is far outside the abseil line orographic to the right. When the water level is high and the rock is slippery, it can only be reached via the two lower diverters. In addition, it is drilled very high on overhanging rock and the access is quite sporty. It is also almost entirely a hanging pitch. For groups of four or more, it is highly recommended that you take ropes for all three lengths, as there is usually only room for two people at the typical Madeiran belays. Although there is an intermediate exit on the Levada do Norte after 19 rappels, which you can use to get back to the upper parking lot, the path is long and steep. Normally, the lower parts up to the Levada do Seixal are also climbed. This part offers less challenging waterfalls in terms of ropes, but even if the Levada do Norte taps off a large part of the water, this part should not be taken lightly, especially in winter and spring, due to the inflows. Scenically, this section with its 15 abseils is also a highlight in any case. Shortly after the confluence with the Hortela Canyon, the tour exits onto the Levada do Seixal. There are two options for the final rappel: 1) right bank from the tree, intermediate belay at the edge, this line leads directly onto the levada 2) left bank, rope traverse and abseil stand high up, this line leads to a tunnel window into which you can enter the levada tunnel when the water level is moderate. Caution: the entrance is not easy to find behind the falling water. This line also leads to another stance a little further down, from which you can connect to the lower part of the Hortela.

Es gibt diverse Varianten für den Rückweg. 1) Sie folgen der Levada nach orografisch rechts (der Abgrund ist dann auf Ihrer linken Seite) entgegen der Fließrichtung für 710m, um zum Abstieg Vereda do Lombo Barbinhas zu gelangen. Hier steigen Sie in 30 Minuten zum Hauptfluss steil und meist rutschig ab. Überqueren Sie den Hauptfluss, um auf der anderen Seite einem kleinen Pfad durch den Wald talauswärts zu folgen. Dieser führt in wenigen Minuten durch den Wald, überqueren Sie die Staumauer links und folgen Sie der Piste über die Wiese zum unteren Parkplatz. 2) Begehen Sie einen der Canyons, die an der Levada do Seixal starten: A) Seixal inferior, durch den langen Tunnel, direkt danach beginnt die Tour, abklettern neben der betonierten Wasserfassung, alternativ kann hier an einem Gitter ein Seil befestigt werden. B) Hortela inferior, direkt vor Ihnen C) Folhado inferior, der Levada Richtung Abstieg 520m folgen, der erste Canyon, Haken am Levadaablass kurz vor dem Wasserfall D) Vimieiro inferior, der Levada Richtung Abstieg und an diesem vorbei 920m bis zum Ende folgen, Haken kurz vor dem Wasserfall In allen vier Fällen sollten Sie die Länge der Tour und die Zeit im Auge haben und Ihre Kondition gut einschätzen. Insbesondere im Winter wird es in Madeira früh und vor allem sehr schnell dunkel. Und selbstredend die Höhe der jeweiligen Wasserfälle bedenken!!! 3) Sie folgen der Levada nach orografisch rechts (der Abgrund ist dann auf Ihrer linken Seite) entgegen der Fließrichtung für 650m, um zum Aufstieg Vereda do Lombo Barbinhas zu gelangen. Dieser ist nicht ganz einfach zu entdecken. Er führt über die Levada do Norte zurück zur vom Zustieg bekannten Vereda da Terra Cha, dieser folgen Sie zum Einstiegsparkplatz. Diese Variante ermöglicht die komplette Tour mit nur einem Auto. Der Rückweg umfasst dann 5km und 630 Höhenmeter und dauert 2 Stunden, insofern Sie nach der Tour noch normales Tempo schaffen.

This option allows you to complete the entire tour in just one car. The way back then covers 5 km and 630 meters in altitude and takes 2 hours, provided you can still manage a normal pace after the tour.

Die Tour beginnt meist trocken und wird am zweiten Wasserfall und im Verlaufe der Tour von zahlreichen Quellen und einigen Zuflüssen gespeist. Vorsicht wenn schon am ersten Abseiler viel Wasser läuft, die Tour ist dann vermutlich nicht begehbar.
