Von Genf auf der A 40, anschließend der N 205 nach Chamonix (ab Grenze 86 km).\nVon da weiter auf der N 506 über Argentiere und Vallorcine in Richtung Martigny (Schweiz). 1,5 km nach Vallorcine biegen wir li. ab zum Weiler Barberine. Vor der Brücke über die L'Eau Noire rechts 50m abwärts großer Parkplatz. Hier Fahrzeug abstellen. Alternativ die Anfahrt aus der Schweiz: Von Martigny im Rhone-Tal auf der Route de la Forclaz (die am Südwestende der Stadt beginnt) Richtung Chamonix (Frankreich). Nach 21,5 km passieren wir die Grenze nach Frankreich. 400 m weiter biegen wir rechts ab zum Weiler Barberine. Vor der Brücke über die L'Eau Noire rechts 50m abwärts großer Parkplatz. Hier Fahrzeug abstellen.

From Geneva on the A 40, then the N 205 to Chamonix (from the border 86 km).\nFrom there continue on the N 506 via Argentiere and Vallorcine in the direction of Martigny (Switzerland). 1.5 km after Vallorcine, turn left to the hamlet of Barberine. Before the bridge over the L'Eau Noire, there is a large parking lot on the right 50 m downhill. Park your vehicle here. Alternative approach from Switzerland: From Martigny in the Rhone Valley on the Route de la Forclaz (which starts at the south-western end of the town) towards Chamonix (France). After 21.5 km we cross the border into France. 400 m further on, turn right towards the hamlet of Barberine. Before the bridge over the L'Eau Noire, there is a large parking lot 50 m downhill on the right. Park your vehicle here.

Über die Brücke geht es weiter zum Weiler Barberine (etwa 1155 m ü.NN) und wenig danach auf einem Fußweg in Richtung "Barrage d'Emosson, 1931 m". Auf 1595 m üNN zweigt in einer Linkskurve re. (nach Osten) ein Pfad ab in Richtung Le Chatelard, Firnhaut. Er führt hinunter zum Bach.

Cross the bridge and continue to the hamlet of Barberine (about 1155 m a.s.l.) and a little later on a footpath towards "Barrage d'Emosson, 1931 m". At 1595 m a.s.l. a path branches off to the right (to the east) in a left bend in the direction of Le Chatelard, Firnhaut. It leads down to the stream.

Der Canyon auf der Landesgrenze ist südostseitig ausgerichtet und hat zwei von einander getrennte Abschnitte. Nach der Engstelle steigt man rechts aus auf den Aufstiegsweg und steigt dann weiter unten vor dem 40-m-Abseiler wieder ein. Der Canyon wird häufig kommerziell begangen. Er ist attraktiv wegen seiner Sprungmöglichkeiten im ersten Abschnitt, vor allem aber auch wegen des landschaftlichen Ambiente mit dem fantastischen Blick auf die Viertausender um Argentiere und Chamonix. Da der Canyon unter dem Stausee von Emosson liegt, empfiehlt es sich, bei der Centrale de Vallorcine vor der Begehung anzurufen (Tel. 0450546064) - siehe auch: http://www.emosson.ch/PublicDE/Securite.htm

The canyon on the national border is south-east facing and has two separate parts. After the narrow section, you exit to the right onto the ascent path and then re-enter further down before the 40 m rappel. The canyon is often used commercially. It is attractive because of the possible jumps in the first part, but above all because of the scenic ambience with fantastic views of the four-thousand-metre peaks around Argentiere and Chamonix.
