Wir fahren an auf dem alten "Kings Highway" Straße "35" (Madaba - Karak). Etwa 65 km von Karak nach Norden und 10 km nach Durchfahren der Ortschaft Dhiban kommen wir an die Brücke über das Wadi Wala, den Oberlauf des Wadi el Hidan. Kommen wir von Norden, sind es von Madaba (Stadtmitte) 24 km bis hierher. Im Süden der Brücke biegen wir ab und fahren 17 km am Wadi entlang abwärts. Dann sind wir am Einstieg in den oberen Abschnitt des Hidan Upper angekommen und stellen hier unser (ggf. erstes) Auto ab. Haben wir 2 Fahrzeuge zur Verfügung oder wollen wir nur den unteren Abbschnitt des Hidan Upper begehen, stellen wir unser (ggf. zweites) Auto nach weiteren 1,2 km auf dieser Straße ab. Das ist der Punkt, wo die Straße sich in einer Rechtskurve vom Wadi "verabschiedet".

We drive on the old "Kings Highway" road "35" (Madaba - Karak).\nAbout 65 km from Karak to the north and 10 km after passing the village of Dhiban we come to the bridge over the Wadi Wala, the upper reaches of the Wadi el Hidan. If we come from the north, it is 24 km from Madaba (city center) to here. In the south of the bridge we turn and go 17 km downhill along the wadi. Then we arrive at the entry to the upper part of the Hidan Upper and park our (possibly first) car here. If we have 2 cars available or we want to walk only the lower section of the Hidan Upper, we park our (if necessary second) car after another 1.2 km on this road. This is the point where the road "says goodbye" to the wadi in a right turn.

Einstieg bei "P1" unmittelbar hinein in das Wadi bei den Basaltplatten (2 Min.).\nDer Wasserfall wird rechts umgangen, dann klettert man 3m auf griffigem Fels hinab in das Bachbett. Einstieg bei "P2": Auf deutlichem Weg - im Verlauf links hinunter Blick auf die Schlusswasserfälle des ersten Abschnitts - hinunter in das Wadi (20 Min.).

Entry at "P1" directly into the wadi at the basalt slabs (2 min.).\nThe waterfall is bypassed to the right, then you climb 3m on grippy rock down into the streambed. Entry at "P2": On a clear path - in the course down to the left view of the final waterfalls of the first part - down into the wadi (20 min.).

Steigen wir zu Beginn des oberen Abschnitts - " P 1" - ein, so erwartet uns eine Flusswanderung zwischen hohen Wänden, meist auf gewachsenem Fels. Einige Schwimmstrecken, einige Absätze zum Abklettern, teilweise etwas heikel und eine eindrucksvolle Schlusspassage mit einem Doppelwasserfall mit Sprungmöglichkeit. Danach öffnet sich die Schlucht und wir können in einem Rechtsbogen hinaufsteigen zu "P 2" (25 Min.). Wenn wir den 2. Abschnitt weiter gehen, zeigt sich die Schlucht etwas offener, aber immer noch landschaftlich attraktiv. Eine kleine Stufe, die uns zum Abklettern/Rutschen/Springen etwas zu heikel erschien, haben wir abgeseilt. Dann passieren wir unseren späteren Ausstieg (bei einigen größeren Büschen rechts hinauf), laufen aber noch etwa 1 km weiter, bis wir an den hohen Wasserfall mit dem Namen Barta kommen, der das Ende einer Begehung des Wadi Hidan Upper bedeutet. Zum Ausstieg geht es den 1 km wieder zurück und dann an der erwähnten Stelle mit den großen Büschen links (nordwärts) hinaus (siehe Foto 10 beim ersten Fotolink - 2007)

If we get on at the beginning of the upper part - " P 1" - a river walk between high walls, mostly on grown rock, awaits us. Some swimming stretches, some steps for downclimbing, partly a bit tricky and an impressive final passage with a double waterfall with possible jumps. After that the canyon opens and we can climb up in a right turn to "P 2" (25 min.). As we continue up the 2nd part, the canyon shows a bit more open, but still scenic. We rappelled down a small step that seemed a bit too tricky for downclimbing/sliding/jumping. Then we pass our later exit (up to the right at some larger bushes), but continue walking for about 1 km until we come to the high waterfall called Barta, which signifies the end of an ascent of Wadi Hidan Upper. For the exit we go back the 1 km and then at the mentioned place with the big bushes on the left (northwards) out (see photo 10 at the first photo link - 2007).

Über den Schotterkegel mit den großen Büschen geht es hinauf in eine Felspassage, die man nahe der Bachsohle hinaufklettert (unschwierig). Oben halten wir dann weglos oder auf Ziegenpfaden auf der orograf. rechten Seite des Wadis den Hang hinauf und stoßen oben auf einen deutlichen Pfad, dem wir kontinuierlich folgen. Er trifft auf eine Piste, die uns - nach rechts - zum Auto ("P2") bringt.

Over the gravel cone with the large bushes we go up to a rock passage, which we climb up near the streambed (not difficult). At the top, we then keep pathless or on goat paths on the orographic. right side of the wadi up the slope and at the top we come across a clear path that we follow continuously. It meets a dirt road that brings us - to the right - to the car ("P2").
