Von Castellane am Verdon zuerst 12 km Verdon abwärts, dann links ab auf die D 955 und hier weitere 16 km nach Comps-sur-Artuby. Am Ortsanfang in spitzem Winkel gleich rechts ab und auf der D 71 ca. 14,5 km bis zur Bogenbrücke über die Artuby. Vor der Brücke Auto abstellen.

From Castellane on the Verdon first 12 km down Verdon, then left on the D 955 and here another 16 km to Comps-sur-Artuby. At the beginning of the village, turn right at an acute angle and follow the D 71 for about 14.5 km to the arched bridge over the Artuby. Park your car in front of the bridge.

Der Zustieg erfolgte am orograf linken Ufer der Schlucht über eine Piste nach Süden, später dann weglos hinunter zum Bach, wo die Felswände durch steile Wiesenhänge abgelöst wurden (Le Pas de la Chapelle). Dieser Zustieg erfolgte jedoch über das Gebiet eines Truppenübungsplatzes - camp militaire de Canjuers - und ist deshalb verboten. In den Jahren 2011/2012 wurde im descente-canyon Forum monatelang über diese Situation diskutiert: https://www.descente-canyon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15260 Man kann je doch alternativ den Zustieg zum Artuby V nehmen: Von der Brücke am orograf. rechten (Ost-) Ufer ca. 400 m südwärts. Dabei folgt man den roten (z.T. auch blauen) Markierungen, die den Bungeespringern in umgekehrter Richtung den Weg zurück zur Brücke wiesen. Dann geht es hinunter, über eine Metallleiter und Felsbänder bis zum Schluchtgrund.

Access is via a slope on the orographic left bank of the canyon to the south, later descending without a path down to the stream, where the rock faces are replaced by steep meadow slopes (Le Pas de la Chapelle). However, this access was via the area of a military training area - camp militaire de Canjuers - and is therefore prohibited. In 2011/2012, this situation was discussed for months in the descente-canyon forum: https://www.descente-canyon.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15260 Alternatively, you can take the access to Artuby V: From the bridge on the orographic right (east) bank approx. 400 m southwards. Follow the red (sometimes blue) markings that meadowed the way back to the bridge for the bungee jumpers in the opposite direction. Then descend via a metal ladder and rocky ledges to the bottom of the gorge.

Im Schluchtgrund angekommen läuft man nun die gesamte Schlucht aufwärts (mit etwas Klettern), bis sie sich weitet (vgl. Canyons de Haute Provence, F. Jourdan / J. F. Fiorina / P. Tordjmann, 2006, Seite 69 unten "Nota"). Der Canyon knickt hier nach Osten und der Umkehrpunkt wäre "Le Pas de la Chapelle" (vgl. dazu auch die Geo-Skizze in Les 30 plus beaux canyons des Alpes du Sud, Hubert Ayasse / Franck Tessier, 1989 Seite 101 und die Beschreibung in Descente de canyons dans les Alpes de Haute Provence, Bernard Gorgeon, Eric Olive, Patrice Tordjman, 1995, Nr. 20 - "Description") Der Wendepunkt ist etwa auf 570m üNN. Inzwischen wurde auch noch eine neue Variante der Begehung dieses Schluchtteils praktiziert: Die Canyonisten sind von der Vebindungsstraße D955 (Comps-sur-Artuby nach Montferrat in den Artuby eingestiegen. Die Tour ist dann zwar sehr lange und hat uninteressante Abschnitte, aber dafür kann man mit Autoumsetzung arbeiten und bleibt immer in "Deckung" der Schlucht. Aber festzuhalten ist, dass man sich auch im Schluchtgrund verbotenerweise auf dem Gelände des Truppenübungsplatzes bewegt. Nur die Gefahr einer Entdeckung mit evtl. Strafmaßnahmen in der Folge bleibt gering. Gleiches gilt natürlich auch für das Anlaufen in der Schlucht nach oben.

In the meantime, a new variation of the ascent of this part of the canyon has been practiced: Canyonists have entered the Artuby from the D955 link road (Comps-sur-Artuby to Montferrat. The tour is then very long and has uninteresting parts, but you can work with shuttles and always stay in "cover" of the canyon. However, it should be noted that it is forbidden to walk on the grounds of the military training area, even at the bottom of the gorge. Only the risk of being discovered with possible penalties as a result remains low. The same applies, of course, to running upwards in the canyon.
