Summary:
This is a pleasant canyon that can be descended in half a day. The 50m rappel is particularly beautiful. Equipment questionable - see reports.
Access:
From Domodossola, head to Villadossola and take the Val d'Antrona road. One kilometer after the village of Boschetto, the road crosses the stream. Park 200m before the bridge, next to an old garage that is used by the locals as an illegal rubbish dump.
Approach (5 min):
Walk down the street 20 meters to find a staircase. Take that path that leads to a footbridge, and descend just before it on the right.
Tour (3 h):
To reach the anchor of the C50, the safest way is to stay on the rope from the waterfall before. You absolutely need to handle rope friction on the big rappel, the anchor is placed very badly. The remaining C20 has no bolts, use the big trees behind the block river right. After some downclimbs, you reach the main river. You must cross a deep 70m pool with narrow walls. The exit trail starts right at the end of the narrow section river right.
Return (35 min):
After the pool, climb to the right up a fairly steep path to find a good trail, then cross the canyon on a footbridge and continue climbing up to the village of Boschetto. Follow the road back to the upstream parking area.
