Claut - Valle Settimana - park by Stalle Susanna (first barn on the opposite side of the river Settimana), marked by a road sign. From June-July to the 3rd Sunday of Sept. there is a road fee, payable in cash or card at the entrance of the valley.

Cross the main river on a wooden bridge slightly upstream from the parking. On the backside of the barn (Stalle Susanna) is an ancient oven, and start of a trail towards the canyon on our right. Well before reaching the canyon, blue markings by a little junction indicate we go left & up, immediately confirmed by another blue marking on a small pine tree. This trail is now faint, but marked with blue dots and the occasional cairn, it zigzags its way up through the trees and brings us closer to the canyon. At this point we are on the final emergency exit/entrance to the lower part, but we continue up on our left, steep and at times not so clear, but always marked. The trail uses the forest on the ascending ridge (offering great views and occasional phone reception) towards the final chimney 'Col Della Question'. Up on the chimney we continue shortly straight, then rapidly descend towards Susanna on our right (blue markings lead the way). A higher entrance exists but offering little reward with only 2 more obstacles won.

Überqueren Sie den Hauptfluss auf einer Holzbrücke etwas flussaufwärts vom Parkplatz. Auf der Rückseite der Scheune (Stalle Susanna) befindet sich ein alter Ofen und der Beginn eines Weges in Richtung der Schlucht zu unserer Rechten. Kurz bevor wir die Schlucht erreichen, zeigen blaue Markierungen an einer kleinen Kreuzung an, dass wir nach links und nach oben gehen, was sofort durch eine weitere blaue Markierung an einer kleinen Kiefer bestätigt wird. Dieser Weg ist jetzt nur noch schwach ausgeprägt, aber er ist mit blauen Punkten und gelegentlichen Steinmännchen markiert, schlängelt sich im Zickzack durch die Bäume und bringt uns dem Canyon näher. An diesem Punkt befinden wir uns am letzten Notausgang/Eingang zum unteren Teil, aber wir gehen zu unserer Linken weiter hinauf, steil und manchmal nicht so klar, aber immer markiert. Der Weg führt durch den Wald auf dem ansteigenden Kamm (mit großartiger Aussicht und gelegentlichem Telefonempfang) bis zum letzten Schornstein "Col Della Question". Oben auf dem Kamin geht es kurz geradeaus weiter, dann geht es schnell abwärts in Richtung Susanna zu unserer Rechten (blaue Markierungen weisen den Weg). Es gibt einen höher gelegenen Einstieg, der aber mit nur 2 weiteren Hindernissen wenig Belohnung bietet.

Susanna has a small water catchment area, therefore depending on rain or snowmelt. Water flow can be checked easily from the road: we see from down to up: the c40, c60 & c76.
