Verlassen Sie Dschibuti über die N1 und folgen Sie dieser bis zur Abzweigung, die zum Assal-See und nach Tadjoura führt. Biegen Sie hier ab. Etwa 25 km nach dieser Abzweigung erreichen Sie auf der rechten Seite einen Aussichtspunkt, von dem aus man fast die gesamte Strecke überblicken kann. Fahren Sie weiter bis zum Dorf Karta, das weniger als einen Kilometer entfernt liegt. Parken Sie im Dorf auf dem Platz (kleine Moschee links von der Straße). Sie befinden sich direkt im Wadi.

Leave Djibouti via the N1 and follow it to the junction that leads to Lake Assal and Tadjoura. Turn off here. About 25 km after this junction, you will reach a viewpoint on the right-hand side from where you can see almost the entire route. Continue to the village of Karta, which is less than a kilometer away. Park in the village in the square (small mosque to the left of the road). You are directly in the wadi.

Nach einem einfachen Abstieg erreicht man den ersten Abseiler (55 m), dessen Ausrüstung sich links vom großen Felsblock am Boden befindet. Am Ende dieses Abseilabschnitts gibt es einen Notausstieg am linken Ufer (etwas „luftig“). Anschließend klettert man über Geröll hinunter zum zweiten Abseiler, der am rechten Ufer gesichert ist (45 m), und gelangt unmittelbar danach zum dritten und letzten Abseiler (35 m), der in der Mitte der Felsplatte gesichert ist. Danach gibt es nur noch Hindernisse, die durch Abstieg überwunden werden. Kurz vor einer markanten Linkskurve gibt es einen Nebenfluss am rechten Ufer, den man bis zum Fuß einer Felswand hinaufsteigen kann, die fast senkrecht zum Aussichtspunkt am Straßenrand kurz vor dem Dorf Karta hinabführt. Nach dieser Kurve den Aufstiegsweg am linken Ufer ausmachen. Von dort aus ist es möglich, einen Rückweg zu machen, um bis zum Zusammenfluss mit einem anderen großen Wadi zu gelangen. Dieser Abschnitt erfordert kein Seil. Die Schwierigkeit liegt nicht im Wasser, sondern in der hohen Steinschlaggefahr. Die Abseiler sind mit 8-mm-Bohrhaken und handgefertigten Klemmplatten gesichert (mindestens 2 Bohrhaken pro Abseiler). Vielleicht wurde die Route inzwischen erneuert? Es ist mit starker Reibung zu rechnen. Es gibt Tauben, die den ganzen Tag lang hierherkommen, um sich mit Sturzflügen in dieser Felsspalte zu vergnügen, und dabei erinnert das Geräusch, das dabei entsteht, perfekt an das eines frei fallenden Steins – was beruhigend wirkt.

After an easy descent, you reach the first rappel (55 m), the equipment for which is located to the left of the large boulder on the ground. At the exit of this abseil section, there is an emergency exit on the left bank (somewhat "airy"). You then climb down over scree to the second rappel, which is secured on the right bank (45 m), and immediately afterwards reach the third and final rappel (35 m), which is secured in the middle of the rock slab. After this, there are only obstacles to be overcome by descending. Just before a prominent left-hand bend, there is a tributary on the right bank that you can climb up to the foot of a rock face that descends almost vertically to the viewpoint on the roadside just before the village of Karta. After this bend, make out the ascent path on the left bank. From there, it is possible to make a return trip to reach the confluence with another large wadi. This part does not require a rope. The difficulty lies not in the water, but in the high risk of falling rocks. The rappels are secured with 8-mm bolts and hand-made clamping plates (at least 2 bolts per rappel). Perhaps the route has been renewed in the meantime? You can expect a lot of friction. There are pigeons that come here all day long to amuse themselves with swoops in this crevice, and the sound they make is perfectly reminiscent of a free-falling stone - which is reassuring.

Der Rückweg führt am linken Ufer allmählich bergauf, bis man das Plateau erreicht. Von dort aus geht es in Sichtweite zurück zum Parkplatz (der Weg ist auf diesem letzten Abschnitt nicht immer gut erkennbar).
