Access:
From the A26 highway, exit at Domodossola and follow signs for Val Bognanco. Drive all the way up the valley to the end of the paved road, near San Bernardo.
Approach (45 min):
Continue along the dirt road. After crossing the bridge over the Rasiga, turn right at the first hairpin bend onto the trail for Passo Variola. When you cross the stream (before reaching Alpe Casariola), follow the left bank downstream to the start of the vertical section.
Tour (1 h 30):
No particular difficulties.
Escape Routes: none.
Return (30 min):
Upon reaching the confluence with the Rasiga, hike back up through the forest on the opposite side to San Bernardo (off-trail).
