Von Funchal auf der ER-103 über Monte in Richtung Col de Poiso. Wenige Kilometer nach Ortsende von Monte in dem Weiler Terreiro da Luta rechts ab auf die ER-201. Auf dieser nordostwärts erreicht man nach etwa 1400 m den Cales. Hier das untere Auto abstellen.Mit dem zweiten zurück nach Terreiro da Luta, wieder rechts auf die ER-103 und rund 2 km bergauf. Nach einer längeren Gerade mit einer halbseitigen Allee, sieht man links das Verwaltungsgebäude des Parque Ecologico. Hier das andere Auto abstellen.
From Funchal on the ER-103 via Monte in the direction of Col de Poiso. A few kilometers after the end of Monte, in the hamlet of Terreiro da Luta, turn right onto the ER-201 and continue northeast for about 1400 m until you reach the Cales. Take the second car back to Terreiro da Luta, turn right again onto the ER-103 and drive uphill for about 2 km. After a long straight with a half avenue, you will see the administration building of the Parque Ecologico on the left. Park the other car here.

Nach dem breiten rampenartigen Abfall gegen Ende des Canyons sieht man unten eine zementierte Plattform (ehemalige Wasserfassung). Hier am rechten Ufer bachabwärts bis zur Straße, da die letzten Wasserfälle nicht eingesichert sind (2010).
