A small canyon almost without water except after rains, with modest rappels on beautiful tuffs and small corners full of magic. Perfect to combine with its neighbors Escalell and Escalelló without running too much and with only one vehicle.

Accesso:
By the C16 we will arrive at Berga and after passing the tunnel we will take the C26 to Vilada. Almost leaving the village we will see a detour to the left to Sant Romà de la Clusa. We will continue straight on along this track and we will arrive at the ravine, which we cross on its orographic right, just when we pass its entrance we arrive at a meadow with a picnic area where we park for Escalelló and Escalell. We will continue along the track to Sant Romà, we could park a few meters before just at the exit of the ravine, depending on the parking area will take a little longer on the climb or return.
Avvicinamento (20 min):
We will follow the track that is the GR4 passing Sant Romà, the viewpoint and a kilometer later, in two curves linked we pass over the stream, time to access.
Giro (1 h):
We enter directly into a clean stream bed that quickly turns into a slope; if it’s wet, watch out for slips. We continue downhill, passing a few small ledges, until we come to a ledge crossed by a wire with a rock hanging in the middle of the stream bed—watch out for livestock! We go around the obstacle on the left and reach the slope leading to the first rappel: on the ground, to the left, 21 meters. Throughout this section, the ledges are made of pumice. Now we continue along the stream bed for about 160 meters, with some easy ledges. There are points along the route where we’ll have to skirt the stream bed on the right due to bushes and branches. We’ve reached the spot where a local trail crosses the Rec stream bed; to the left, it leads to the trail we used for the approach. We continue down a few more meters and reach the point where the Rec’s descent becomes steepest: 2nd rappel, pine tree on the right, 18 meters. The next one is on the right: 3rd rappel, hazel bush behind on the right, 20 meters; we’ll pass under the trunk. We continue descending and it won’t be long before we find the fourth rappel: boxwood on the right, 10 meters—just a short drop. The fifth rappel, boxwoods on the left, 6 meters, is the shortest of the entire route. Immediately after, we find the 6th rappel: boxwood on the left, 12 meters. Now it’s time to descend about sixty easy meters to the trail leading to Mas del Rossinyol on the right, and to our vehicle on the left. We don’t want to end the descent here, so we explore the Rec’s channel beneath the trail and realize we can likely continue through the interior of the conduit, which is clear and wide enough to proceed crouched or on all fours. The 7th rappel is on the right, with two bolts—the first at the bottom and the second on the ceiling. We must assume that at least one of the two bolts will withstand a potential rise in water flow. If both bolts fail, there is a third bolt on the outside, to the right, for rappelling. Markers B and C for the rappels. At the start of the tunnel, there is a bolt on the left. We will use this bolt only to secure access to the rappels in the event of a significant water flow (marker A). We make the 7th rappel, 23 meters to the right. We continue the descent to the point where the riverbed turns left, and we come to a long ramp; if we find it dry, we can climb it, but if it’s wet, it’s risky; therefore, we have the 8th optional rappel on the ground, to the right, 24 meters. All that remains is one turn to the right, another to the left over easy terrain, and we’ll reach the exit on the left, a trail. We’ll return along the same trail to the left until we reach La Clusa, where our vehicle is parked—a 20-minute walk.
