Von Lecco fährt man auf der SS36 Richtung Sondrio. Dann nimmt man die Ausfahrt Richtung Varenna, Mandello, Lierna, Abbalia. Auf der Bundesstraße neben dem Comosee weiterfahren. Direkt vor dem Tunnel links Richtung Varenna abbiegen. In der Ortschaft Varenna sucht man in der Nähe der Brücke oder am Bahnhof (Esino inferiore) einen ggf. gebührenpflichtigen Parkplatz (Zur Hauptsaison nicht einfach!). Alternativ kann zwischen den Tunneln an der SP72 parken, wo auch direkt an der Kläranlage ausgestiegen werden kann.
Zustiegsparkplatz:
Hierfür biegt man direkt nach der Brücke (orographisch rechts) ab und fährt die Straße Richtung Perledo hoch. Nach ein paar Serpentinenkurven biegt man rechts Richtung „Vezio“ ab. Neben der Firma bzw. direkt vor dem Fahrtverbot am großen Parkplatz (Camper/ LKW) rechts parken.
From Lecco take the SS36 towards Sondrio. Then take the exit towards Varenna, Mandello, Lierna, Abbalia. Continue on the main road next to Lake Como. Just before the tunnel turn left towards Varenna. In the town of Varenna, look for a parking place near the bridge or at the train station (Esino inferiore), possibly with a fee (not easy in high season!). Alternatively, you can park between the tunnels on the SP72, where you can also get off directly at the sewage treatment plant.
Access parking:
For this, turn right just after the bridge (orographically on the right) and drive up the road towards Perledo. After a few hairpin bends, turn right towards "Vezio". Park on the right next to the company or directly in front of the driving ban at the large parking lot (camper / truck).

Wenn man mit dem PKW hochgefahren ist, geht man Richtung Brücke. Vor der Brücke folgt man den Eingang des Restaurants „Crott del Pepott“ bis zur Aussichtpunkt in der Schlucht. Direkt neben dem Geländer findet man den Bohrhaken zum Abseilen. Alternativ bei direkt von der Brücke 15m in den Bach abseilen.
After parking at the bridge (Esino inferiore) in the village of Varenna, go up the marked trail towards Vezio/Perledo on the orographic left side of the stream (about 100m before the bridge), at the "Hotel/Ristorante Monte Codeno". The path leads to a fork with a private dirt road, which you follow until you reach the asphalt road. Then follow this road descending to the left towards the stream. At the bridge, go (orographically on the left) a little further across the company grounds and climb there directly in the creek (approx. 320Hm), or rappel directly from the bridge 15m into the creek. Die Schlucht beginnt wenig spektakulär auf 320Hm vor den Staumauerstufen zwischen der Schnellstraßenbrücke und der Zufahrtsbrücke die über den Esino führt. Gleich bei der Zufahrtsbrücke gibt es auf beiden Seiten einen Privatweg der zum Restaurant und in die Schlucht führt. Eine alte Steinbrücke über die Schlucht dient als Verbindung der Privatwege (evtl. Einstieg an der orographisch re Seite über Privatweg und Geländer zum 1. Stand). Besser direkt von der Brücke 15m in den Bach abseilen. Unter Beobachtung der Restaurantbesucher wird über die ersten 2 Stufen abgeseilt. Danach folgt ca. 200m flaches Gehgelände. Nach einer kleinen gemauerten Stufe wird es endlich interessant. Kontinuierlich führen kleinere Abseiler, Klettereien und Rutschen, durch die nicht tief aber eng eingeschnittene und vegetationsreiche Schlucht. Die Schlucht führt trotz großen Einzugsgebiets nur wenig Wasser. Sollte der Wasserstand jedoch höher sein kann es ziemlich unangenehm werden da die meisten Abseiler direkt im Wasserlauf sind. Die schönen Auswaschungen und das dunkle Kalkgestein begeistert jeder Begeher. Nach ca. 1,5h endet die Schlucht plötzlich und man steht im offenen Bachbett. Hier trifft man leider auf eine übelriechende Kläranlage die, wenn man Pech hat, noch Wasser in den Bach leitet.
The canyon begins less spectacularly at 320Hm before the dam steps between the highway bridge and the access bridge that leads over the Esino. The beautiful washouts and the dark limestone inspire every walker. After about 1.5h the canyon ends suddenly and you are standing in the open streambed. Here, unfortunately, you meet a foul-smelling sewage treatment plant that, if you are unlucky, still leads water into the stream.
