Von Agios Nikolaos auf der sog. New Road (Nr. 90/E 75) Richtung Sitia, noch vorbei an Pachia Ammos (bis hierher 19 km). Rechts biegt die Straße nach Ierapetra (südwärts) ab. Wir fahren geradeaus (Osten) weiter in Richtung Sitia ud erreichen nach 5 km Kavousi. Wir durchfahren die Ortschaft und biegen bei den letzten Häusern und noch vor der Brücke rechts ab (Hinweisschild 'Archeological Site'). Kurz bevor die Straße anzusteigen beginnt,stellen wir ein Auto ab. Wir fahren dann die betonierte Piste aufwärts, ignorieren die Abzweigung zur 'Archeological Site' (2,2 km ab Abzweigung von der E 75) und kommen an einem der ältesten Olivenbäume Kretas vorbei. Dann geht es etwas bergab und wir kreuzen ein Bachbett (4,3 km): rechts (südlich) endet der Mesonas, links beginnt der Havgas. Hier stellen wir das andere Auto ab.Sofern wir nicht über ein zweites Fahrzeug verfügen, kann man über einen Steig am orograf. rechten Hang immer in der Nähe des Canyons hochgehen. Wenn man auf die Piste trifft, dort rechts zum Einstieg.

From Agios Nikolaos on the so-called New Road (No. 90/E 75) towards Sitia, past Pachia Ammos (up to here 19 km). The road to Ierapetra turns off to the right (south). We continue straight ahead (east) towards Sitia and reach Kavousi after 5 km. We drive through the village and turn right at the last houses and before the bridge (sign 'Archeological Site'). Just before the road starts to climb, we park a car. We then drive up the concrete road, ignoring the turn-off to the 'Archeological Site' (2.2 km from the turn-off from the E 75) and pass one of the oldest olive trees in Crete. Then we go downhill a little and cross a streambed (4.3 km): to the right (south) the Mesonas exits, to the left the Havgas begins. We park the other car here and, unless we have a second vehicle, we can walk up a path on the orographic right-hand slope, always close to the canyon. When you reach the dirt road, turn right to the entry.

Vom oberen Auto einige Meter am rechten Ufer das Baches entlang, bis ein Laufen im Bachbett angezeigt erscheint.

Beim großen Gumpen zu Beginn sollte der Erste mit Neo ausgestattet sein und eine Seilfähre bauen (siehe Foto!)

Nach dem letzten Abseiler durch den Schlitz in der Felswand (so sieht es jedenfalls der unten stehende Betrachter) ein Stück im Bachbett weiter und dann links hinaus zum Fahrzeug.
