wie zum Cl. inf.: Von Turin, Frejus kommend verlassen wir die A32 über die Ausfahrt "Susa Est", durchqueren die Stadt Susa und nehmen dann die SP210 nach Novalesa. Dort angekommen nehmen wir, ohne den Rio Claretto zu queren die "Via Roma" in südöstlicher Richtung nach Sant'Anna. Bald nach den letzten Häusern von Novalesa kommen wir zur Brücke über den Rio Marderello. Direkt vor der Brücke links stellen wir unser Auto ab (Beschilderter Parkplatz 'Cascate')
Sofern wir aus Richtung Briancon anfahren, verlassen wir die A32 über die Ausfahrt "Susa Ovest" und kommen direkt auf die SP210, die uns nach Novalesa führt
How to get to the Cl. inferiore: Coming from Turin, Frejus, we leave the A32 at the "Susa Est" exit, cross the town of Susa and then take the SP210 to Novalesa. Once there, without crossing the Rio Claretto, we take the "Via Roma" in a south-easterly direction to Sant'Anna. Soon after the last houses of Novalesa, we come to the bridge over the Rio Marderello. We park our car on the left directly in front of the bridge (signposted parking lot 'Cascate')
If you are coming from Briancon, leave the A32 at the "Susa Ovest" exit and take the SP210, which will take you to Novalesa

Zunächst wie zum Cl. inf.: Wir nehmen den Pfad, der vom Auto auf den deutlich sichtbaren Schlusswasserfall des Claretto zuführt. Wir kommen an den Bach, queren diesen und steigen auf einem Pfad am orograf. rechten Ufer steil aufwärts. Wir stoßen auf einen Waldweg, folgen diesem und sehen dann rechts etwas unterhalb den kleinen Ableitungskanal und kommen zu einer Alphütte ("La mojùn de paréin Steu"). Wir gehen jedoch auf der Piste weiter aufwärts, bis zu einer Linkskehre in 1520m Höhe. Dabei können wir zweimal weit nach Norden ausladende Serpentinen abkürzen . Bei der Linkskehre in 1520m Höhe gehen wir dann rechts von der Straße ab und nehmen den Weg hinunter zum Bach (Einstieg).

Romeo Claretto wohnt in Novalese, hat den Schlüssel zur Schranke und kennt sich bestens mit den Zustiegen aus. Er fährt einem mit seinem LandRover gerne zum Einstieg hoch (ca. 15Euro pro Person).

First, as for the Cl. inf.: We take the path that leads from the car to the clearly visible final waterfall of the Claretto. We reach the stream, cross it, and climb steeply up a path on the orographic right bank. We come to a forest trail, follow it, and then see the small diversion channel slightly below us on the right; we arrive at an alpine hut (“La mojùn de paréin Steu”). This is where the access to Cl. inferiore begins.
However, we continue uphill on the road until we reach a leftward haipin bend at an elevation of 1,520 m. Along the way, we can take two shortcuts past switchbacks that curve far to the north. At the leftward haipin bend at 1,520 m, we then turn right off the road and take the trail down to the stream (entry).
Shuttle with Romeo Claretto:
Romeo Claretto lives in Novalese, has the key to the gate, and knows the access routes very well. He’s happy to drive you up to the entry in his Land Rover (approx. 15 euros per person).

Etwa 32-34 Abseiler nur im oberen Abschnitt. Bis auf zwei sehr kurze offene Passagen durchgehend eng eingeschnitten. Abseiler sind wegen starken Hochwasserdruck oft ausgesetzt angebracht und nur über Handläufe zu erreichen. Bei der Brücke angelangt, wo der Einstieg zum unteren Abschnitt erfolgt, können wir entweder nach rechts aussteigen und den Zustiegsweg wieder zurück und hinunter oder wir entschließen uns bei geeigneten Bedingungen, den Abstieg im unteren Abschnitt fortzusetzen (siehe - auch zum Rückweg in diesem Fall - Beschreibung Cl. inf.).
About 32-34 rappels in the upper part only. Except for two very short open passages, the route is narrow throughout. Rappels are often exposed due to strong flood pressure and can only be reached via handrails. When we reach the bridge where the entry to the lower part is, we can either exit to the right and take the access path back and down again or, if conditions are suitable, we decide to continue the descent in the lower part (see - also for the way back in this case - description Cl. inferiore).
