Von Funchal der ER107 nach Curral das Freiras folgen. Direkt nach dem langen Tunnel rechts hoch zum Einstiegsparkplatz fahren (Picknickplatz) und am Straßenrand parken.

From Funchal, follow the ER107 to Curral das Freiras. Immediately after the long tunnel, turn right up to the parking entry (picnic area) and park at the roadside.

Der Zustieg folgt zuerst leicht bergauf einer Forstpiste (rechter Hand ist eine kleine Baufirma). Dann bergab der Piste weiter folgen und immer geradeaus, die Piste wird schmaler und zu einem Pfad, diesem bergab folgen, bis eine Levada erreicht wird, anfangs ist diese durch Betonplatten abgedeckt. Nun rechts weiter, etwas später über eine schmale grüne Brücke und weiter der Levada folgen, bis der Bachlauf erreicht ist.

The access first follows a forest road slightly uphill (there is a small construction company on the right). Then follow the track downhill and always straight ahead, the track becomes narrower and becomes a path, follow this downhill until you reach a levada, which is initially covered by concrete slabs. Now continue to the right, a little later over a narrow green bridge and continue to follow the levada until you reach the stream.

Einige niedrige Abseilerstellen und eine schöne Rutsche. Vorsicht, in der Saison 2023 hat es an dieser Rutsche mehrere verstauchte Füße gegeben!

Some low abseiling points and a nice slide. Be careful, there were several sprained feet on this slide in the 2023 season!

Die Canyoning Tour endet kurz vor der Straße ER107. Hier rechts hoch über das Geröllfeld. Alternativ ggf. nach der Brücke linksufrig den Forstweg hoch, dazu fehlt jedoch im Bereich der Brücke noch ein weiterer Abseilpunkt.

The canyoning tour exits shortly before the ER107 road. Here turn right up over the boulder field. Alternatively, after the bridge, take the forest path on the left bank, but there is another anchor in the area of the bridge.

Das Einzugsgebiet reicht bis in die höchsten Berge (Pico Arieiro, Pico Cidrao). Unbedingt das Wetter auch dort kontrollieren (Webcam etc), die Hochwasserspuren in diesem scheinbar ungefährlichen Bach sind beängstigend.

The catchment area extends up to the highest mountains (Pico Arieiro, Pico Cidrao). Be sure to check the weather there too (webcam etc), the flood marks in this seemingly harmless stream are frightening.
