Von Nizza 54 km das Var-Tal auf der N 202 aufwärts in Richtung Digne. Dann rechts (nach Norden) ab auf die D 28 in das Vallée de Cians. Zuerst durch die Gorges de Cians geht es später in Serpentinen in die obere Schlucht. Etwa 17 km nach der Abzweigung kommt man durch zwei Tunnels an der "Petite-" und der "Grande Clue". Vor einer roten Wand mit Inschrifttafeln (dahinter ein Trinkwasserbehälter) quert die Straße den Raton. Hier stellen wir ein Fahrzeug ab.\nMit dem anderen (oder einem Taxi) fahren wir weiter, hinauf nach Beuil und von dort weiter auf der D 28 in Richtung Valberg. Wenige hundert Meter nach Les Launes biegen wir links ab und fahren hinunter auf dem Sträßchen in der Talsenke. Wir kommen zu einer neuen Skistation (rechterhand) und fahren auf der nunmehr nicht mehr geteerten Forstpiste weiter in südlicher Richtung, soweit die Piste fahrbar ist (2008 war schon im ersten wasserführenden Graben nach der Skistation Schluss mit dem Autofahren).
From Nice 54 km up the Var valley on the N 202 towards Digne. Then turn right (north) onto the D 28 into the Vallée de Cians. First through the Gorges de Cians, it later goes in serpentines into the upper canyon. About 17 km after the turnoff, one passes through two tunnels at the "Petite-" and the "Grande Clue". In front of a red wall with inscription plates (behind it a drinking water tank) the road crosses the Raton. Here we park one vehicle.\nWith the other (or a cab) we continue, up to Beuil and from there on the D 28 in the direction of Valberg. A few hundred meters after Les Launes we turn left and go down on the little road in the valley. We come to a new ski station (on the righthand side) and continue on the now no longer paved forest road in a southerly direction, as far as the road is drivable (in 2008, driving was already over in the first water-bearing ditch after the ski station).

Nun laufen wir auf der nur minimal ansteigenden Piste weiter, zuerst im Wald, später mit schönen Ausblicken auf die Berge rund um das Vallée du Cians. Wir kommen zu den am Südhang gelegenen Häusern von L'Illion (1580 m ü.NN - bis hierher 45 Min.). Von hier ist es noch ein guter Kilometer, bis die Piste einen langgezogenen Rechtsbogen beschreibt. Links eine größere fast ebene Fläche. Hier den Steinmännchen folgend in südwestlicher Richtung absteigen zum Bach.
Now we continue walking on the only minimally ascending slope, first in the forest, later with beautiful views of the mountains around the Vallée du Cians. We come to the houses of L'Illion (1580 m a.s.l. - 45 min. to here) situated on the southern slope. From here it is a good kilometer until the track describes a long right curve. On the left there is a large almost flat area. Here, following the cairns, descend in a southwesterly direction to the stream.

Die Schlucht mit ihren 35 Abseilern ist zwar schön, aber der Aufwand (Autoumsetzung, langer Zustieg, langer Abstieg im Canyon) doch recht groß. Sprünge sind wegen des trüben Wassers nur nach jeweiliger Vorprüfung möglich.
The canyon with its 35 rappel is beautiful, but the effort (shuttle, long access, long descent in the canyon) but quite large. Jumps are possible because of the murky water only after respective pre-test.
