Von Figueres an der Autobahn Perpgnan - Barcelona nehmen wir die N 260 in westlicher Richtung und erreichen nach rund 22,5 km passieren wir die sehenswerte Stadt Besalu und fahren auf der A-26 noch 10,5 km weiter. Dann - Ausfahrt Nr. "75", "Montagut" - biegen wir rechts ab auf die GIV-5233. Wir fahren nach 2 km durch die Ortschaft Montagut und biegen am Ortsende links ab auf die GIV-5231 in Richtung Sadernes. 2 km weiter passieren wir die Einfahrt zu dem komfortablen Campingplatz Montagut und nach weiteren 3,8 km kommen wir in den Weiler Sadernes (ebenfalls mit Campingmöglichkeit). Eine Weiterfahrt von hier ist nicht mehr gestattet. Also laufen wir (auch Fahrrad möglich) auf einer Piste, die zunächst in westlicher , dann in nördlicher Richtung am kleinen Fluss entlang aufwärts zieht. 2,7 km nach Sadernes kommen wir zu einer Verzweigung.

From Figueres on the Perpgnan - Barcelona highway, we take the N 260 in a westerly direction and after around 22.5 km we pass the interesting town of Besalu and continue on the A-26 for another 10.5 km. Weiter geht es in nordöstlicher Richtung, zunächst erneut über die Riera de Sant Aniol, dann den jenseitigen Hang auf deutlichem Weg bergauf. Auf einer Hangkuppe - Coll de Clarioles, ca. 555m üNN - verzweigt sich der Steig. Rechts würde es zum Einstieg des Canals gehen, wir aber gehen in nördlicher Richtung zunehmend steiler bergan. Es eröffnen sich Einblicke in die Schlucht. Bei einer Verzweigung ignorieren wir den links leicht abwärts ziehenden Pfad. Schließlich erreichen wir die Höhe und halten westwärts auf den Bach zu. Wenn wir ihn unweit oberhalb des Einschluchtungsbeginns erreichen, haben wir die optimale Route gewählt.

A few steps before the fork, take the forest path that leads down to the streambed of the Riera de Sant Aniol. We follow the path, cross the stream and after 1.6 km from the junction we reach a large meadow. Here the path bends to the left away from the stream. However, we continue to follow the stream and after about 160 m we come to a small weir. Here, either on its crest or slightly below on the opposite bank. Continue north along a path in the valley.
