Vor Erreichen der Häuser von Trou Blanc eröffnen sich bei einem Kreuz am Wegesrand 2 Zustiegsmöglichkeiten: Entweder rechts hinab und dann dem links abbiegenden Pfad folgen zur Einstieg bei 'R1-bis' über eine 50 m hohe senkrechte Felswand mit Umsteiger in der Senkrechten (10/40 - hängend!). Oder man geht geradeaus bis zu den Häusern, nimmt dort den rechts abzweigenden Weg hinunter zum Rivier du Mat, wo man nach ca. 300 m im Bachbett zum Abseiler 'R1' kommt. Höchster Abseiler ist in diesem Fall 18m, sofern man in der Bachsohle bleibt. Die Wahl des Zustiegs entscheidet sich danach, ob der Wasserdurchsatz eine Begehung der an R1 anschließenden attraktiven Engstelle zulässt. Die ortsansässigen Guides raten im Zweifelsfall zum Zustieg über 'R1-bis' und gehen diesen in aller Regel auch selbst.

From the vehicle parked at the exit, return 100m to the last fork and now follow the signpost 'source petrifiante/Trou Blanc' on the "GR R 1 variant", crossing the slopes high above the Riviere du Mat.
