Von Bad Tölz über Lenggries zum Sylvensteinsee. Dort nach links und 5,6 km auf der B 307 in Richtung Achensee. Unmittelbar nach der Straßenbrücke über den Walchen (Achenbach) rechts das Fahrzeug abstellen. Alternativ Zufahrt vom Achensee auf der B 181 in Richtung Lenggries (17,4 km ab Camping Achensee).

Nach einer kurzen Strecke im offenen Bachbett kommt man zu den ersten Stufen und der kurzen, aber attraktiven Dunkelklamm (2016 Fixseile, da kommerziell begangen). Nach der Dunkelklamm kann man rechts hinauf zum Anmarschweg aussteigen. Die Schlucht ist nunmehr relativ offen und präsentiert sich - bis auf einen weiteren Abseiler - als Wandercanyon. Schließlich mündet der Hühnerbach in den Walchen, den man an das jenseitige Ufer durchschwimmt. So war es bis zum Begehungsverbot des LRA Bad Tölz/Wolfratshausen., das vor allen gegen die kommerziell geführten Gruppen gerichtet war. Da der Hühnerbach Grenze ist, kann das Begehungsverbot nur die deutsche Bachseite betreffen. Also im Bach selbst, der die Landesgrenze bildet, immer schön rechts im Hühnersbach auf der österr. Seite halten :) , am Ende aber vor Erreichen des Walchen rechts hinaus, Der Ausstieg ist eingerichtet und gut erkennbar.

After a short stretch in the open streambed, you come to the first steps and the short but attractive dark gorge (fixed ropes in 2016, as it is commercially accessible). After the dark gorge, you can exit to the right up to the approach path. The canyon is now relatively open and - apart from another rappel - presents itself as a hiking canyon. Finally, the Hühnerbach flows into the Walchen, which you swim through to the far bank. This was the case until the LRA Bad Tölz/Wolfratshausen banned access, which was mainly directed against commercially run groups. As the Hühnerbach is a border, the ban can only affect the German side of the stream. Sofern man aber trotzdem am Nordufer des Walchen anlandet, wendet man sich nach Osten, trifft nach wenigen Minuten auf die Bundesstraße und kommt auf ihr zurück zum Parkplatz. beim Ausstieg auf die österr. Seite immer dem Trampelpfad nach, schließlich auf den Forstweg und zum Parkplatz.
