Sintesi:
Acquatic canyon with an open first-half in the beautiful Valle Artogna forest, followed by a more narrow final part with the famous "Tinaccio" waterfalls. Some very nice sections; though a bit discontinuous overall.

Accesso:

Avvicinamento (40 min):
Access is from the hamlet of Otra (Campertogno), at the base of the stream. From the parking area, take the dirt road that goes straight uphill where the asphalt ends. Then turn right onto a narrow, exposed path following the sign “Cascata del Tinaccio”. After about 15 minutes, the waterfall appears in all its power. Continue ascending for about 40 minutes until you reach another flat dirt road; follow it, and shortly afterward you’ll rejoin a trail. On the right, you’ll see the ruins of ancient dwellings — descend here for 5 minutes to reach the streambed.
Giro (3 h):
The canyon begins in an easy riverbed, reaching the first rappel (C13), which can also be jumped. Continue through several beautiful pools, all suitable for jumps, then a C5 and a C10 with a fixed handline. Further ahead is a 20 m toboggan, followed immediately by a C9 and a short walk. A fixed rope leads to an exposed 20 m rappel (C20) with strong rope friction, followed by another toboggan that requires a tricky approach — friction climbing along the wall to avoid the strong current. Another consecutive toboggan, then about 10 minutes of walking. You then reach the Tinaccio Gorge: A 5 m jump leads to the start of the rappel sequence. A handline allows access to an awkward stance, from which a C20 drops into a narrow gorge with a concentrated water jet — CAUTION: assess flow conditions carefully. On the right, not visible from above, there is a hanging belay. From there, descend C27 into a large pool that must be crossed by swimming. These two powerful rappels can be bypassed via a C40 reachable by climbing up to the left before entering the gorge. Continue downstream to a fixed rope leading to a C20 under a waterfall, then several jumps in a deeply sculpted section bring you to the Rusa bridge, where you exit. Ascend to the right to return to the car.
