From Imst on the B 189 for a good 2 km (from the end of Imst) to the center of Tarrenz. Here turn left - Schulgasse - in the direction of Obtarrenz. 450 m further, turn left again before the bridge over the Salvesenbach and another 450 m to the ski lift. Park your car here.

We first go up the stream for a few meters, then we cross over the footbridge to the other bank. Then we go uphill following the signpost "Salvesenklamm", "Obtarrenz". At a fork in the road - down to the left is the bridge over the gorge - we continue straight up in a northerly direction and finally meet the forest road coming up from Obtarrenz at about 1060 m above sea level. On this now left we cross after some time the Vordere Bachl and come a little later to the Hintere Bachl (entry).

In the Hinteren Bachl, one rappel follows the other down into the Salvesenbach. Now running sections alternate with climbing and rappel passages. The narrow passage under the "Hoher Übergang" is then striking. Then you have reached the driftwood barrier and thus the exit of the gorge.
