Von der südwestlichen Umgehungsstraße um Dorgali direkt beim Supermakt 'Beretti' in westlicher Richtung abbiegen, am Friedhof vorbei und immer weiter leicht bergab bis zur Brücke über den Caddaris. Etwa 50 m weiter in der Aufweitung einer Linkskurve das Auto rechts am Straßenrand abstellen.

From the southwestern ring road around Dorgali, turn west directly at the supermarket 'Beretti', pass the cemetery and keep going slightly downhill until you reach the bridge over the Caddaris. About 50 m further on, in the widening of a left-hand bend, park the car on the right-hand side of the road.

Die Piste hinter dem Eisentor nehmen, nach 50 m in der ersten Linkskurve rechts ab und auf einem Feldweg zu der sich öffnenden Wiese. Auf dieser rechts (nordwärts) haltend hinunter und über den Zaun zum Bachbett (ggf. hineinseilen).

Take the slope behind the iron gate, after 50 m in the first left bend turn right and on a dirt road to the opening meadow. Keeping to the right (north) on this, descend over the fence to the streambed (rope in if necessary).

Einige kleine Abseiler, dazwischen längere Laufstrecken, teilweise auf festem Basaltgestein. Nach Erreichen des Flumineddu bietet es sich an, in diesem zuerst abwärts zu laufen zu der attraktiven Passage, wo der Flumineddu zwischen weißen Kalkwänden dahinfließt. An der Wurzel des Stausees wieder umkehren.

A few small rappels, with longer sections in between, partly on solid basalt rock. After reaching the Flumineddu, it is a good idea to first walk downhill to the attractive passage where the Flumineddu flows between white limestone walls. Turn back at the base of the reservoir.

War früher nicht leicht zu finden. Man ging nach der Mündung des Caddaris im Flumineddu ca. 700 m in diesem aufwärts bis zum nächsten Seitentaleinschnitt in der östlicher Flanke (Riu Stiporo). Im Bachbett des Seitenbaches aufwärts. Manchmal. war das Bachbett des Stiporo vom Fiumineddu aus nicht klar erkennbar, weil das Wasser am Rande des Flumineddu unter Kiesbänken verschwindet und auch keine Einkerbung des Bachbettes ersichtlich ist. Man stieg bis unter die Felswand an. Hier hatte man rechts (südwärts) zu queren bis zum Felsgrat und auf diesem bzw. in der dahinterliegenden Mulde hinauf zur Hochfläche. Hier traf man auf einen Feldweg und folgt diesem, später der sich anschließenden Piste, bis zum Eisentor zurück. Bei Corrado Conca (aaO) findet sich als Alternative eine Autoumsetzung. Dann gab es offenbar auch noch einen leichter zu findenden und kürzeren Ausstieg am Ende der Schlucht rechts hinauf: http://win.aic-canyoning.it/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1403&whichpage=3 (für eine präzise Übersetzung genügen meine Italienischkenntnisse nicht). Das alles ist Geschichte, nachdem eine Piste zum Flumineddu hinunter gelegt wurde, offenbar um den antransportierten Kies aus dem Flumineddu zu holen, bevor er den Stausee verfüllt. Diese Piste beginnt etwa 1 km flussab von der Mündung des Caddaris und zieht rechts hinauf. So kommt man problemlos und relativ angenehm hinauf zur Teerstraße. Sofern ein zweites Auto verfügbar und der Zustand der Piste für ein Befahren geeignet ist, könnte man das zweite Auto für den Ausstieg auf der Piste abwärts fahren, evtl. sogar bis zum Flumineddu (siehe Lagekarte in der "Fotogalerie"). Auf den Karten liegt der Ausstieg aus dem Fiumineddu im Stausee, doch dürfte der an dieser Stelle nur selten befüllt sein. Wenn doch wie auf dem Foto einer meiner Begehungen (siehe Gallerie), dann eben waten und schwimmen bis zum Ausstieg auf die Piste.

It was not easy to find in the past. After the mouth of the Caddari in the Flumineddu, walk uphill for approx. 700 m to the next side valley cut in the eastern flank (Riu Stiporo). Ascend in the streambed of the side stream. Sometimes. the streambed of the Stiporo was not clearly recognizable from the Fiumineddu, because the water disappears under gravel banks at the edge of the Flumineddu and there is no visible indentation of the streambed. The path climbed up to below the rock face. Here you had to cross to the right (southwards) to the rocky ridge and on this or in the hollow behind it up to the plateau. Here you meet a dirt road and follow this, and later the adjoining slope, back to the iron gate. At Corrado Conca (ibid.) there is an alternative shuttle. Then there was apparently also an easier to find and shorter exit at the exit of the canyon on the right: http://win.aic-canyoning.it/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1403&whichpage=3 (my knowledge of Italian is not sufficient for a precise translation). This is all history now that a track has been laid down to the Flumineddu, apparently to take the transported gravel out of the Flumineddu before it fills the reservoir. This track starts about 1 km downstream from the mouth of the Caddaris and goes up to the right. This is an easy and relatively pleasant way up to the tarred road. If a second car is available and the condition of the track is suitable for driving on, you could drive the second car down the track for the exit, possibly even as far as Flumineddu (see location map in the "Photo gallery"). On the maps, the exit from the Fiumineddu is in the reservoir, but it should rarely be filled at this point. If it is, as in the photo of one of my ascents (see gallery), then just wade and swim to the exit on the slope.
