Wir verlassen die SS 33 (Gravellona - Domodossola), die das Ossola - Tal hinaufzieht, über die Ausfahrt Villadossola, fahren über den Fluss Toce zunächst in östlicher Richtung, kommen nach 2,8 km in den Ort Beura, biegen hier links ab und erreichen nach weiteren 1,5 km die Ortschaft Quarata. Hier nehemen wir die Via Quarata nach rechts und stellen das Auto in der Nähe des Baches ab.

Auf der Straße ein paar hundert Meter nördlich, zweigt vor Erreichen des Weilers Cosa rechts der Wanderweg ab steil hinauf nach San Lorenzo. An der Kapelle links vorbei, an der folgenden Gabelung dann rechts und zu den Ruinen des Weilers Mura. Wir haben nun den Schluchtrand erreicht und steigen den roten Pfeilen folgen auf teils dornigem Pfad hinab zur Steinbrücke über den Bach.

Zu Beginn gilt es erst einmal, ein Steinchaos zu überwinden. Dann folgen 2 Abseiler bis zur Mündung des linken Seitenbaches Focia. Jetzt beginnt ein ständiger Wechsel von Abseilern, Sprüngen, Rutschen und natürlich Abklettern. Technisch anspruchsvoll ist dann ein Handlauf am steilen Fels, um bei der C 25 einen Abgang im Strahl zu vermeiden. Nach einigen engen Passagen seilt man schließlich in den Badegumpen der Ortschaft Quarata hinein.
