Sintesi:
Micro-canyon made up of a tributary + collector canyon in a side-valley of the wild Dolomiti Friulane. The itinerary is of secondary interest for collectors or for introductory purposes into adventure canyoning. Wonderful scenery below the 'Pala Giuliana'.
Accesso:
By car: a few 100m into the valley is a large gravel area with fireplace to park (just 500m from the exit). Alt. 560m. Also nice to do is on e-bike (can be rented in Claut at Alchymya shop). Access to the valley higher up is officially not authorised, and only possible with a high clearance car.
Avvicinamento (50 min):
Hike the road up to a rock in a curve with graffiti 'Rete' (alt. 800m) - we see the arrival of the tributary below the Pala Giuliana in front. Hike up the large bouldery dry river on the right, to complete a short loop across the little hill that separates us from the tributary. There is no use hiking up all the way to the mountain (canyon only starts lower), but cross the little hill at 900m max after which we go down in the tributary's river bed (now still dry) to alt. 800m. A shorter access may be possible, but could be rather exposed.
Giro (2 h):
Tributary starts with the highest abseil 22m. The anchors here are mainly 8mm single with additional abalakovs. Never technical, but offering a taste of typical Dolomite scenery. The road can be easily reached in between the two distinct parts. If continued into Val Ferron, it is first a short walk in a dry river bed, but a more generous amount of water is found after the water works. Two more abseils, max 8m from doubled anchors, some downclimbing and a walk back before exiting left. Attention to the presence of ticks and both venomous and non-venomous snakes. Possibility to bath just before the exit.
Ritorno (5 min):
The road is spotted from the last abseil in the tributary. Either climb up to the road or continue into Val Ferron.

Autorised vehicle access. Ideal when two parts are combined.
Idrologia:
In summer water will flow below surface level, only at the first abseil it appears, and after the tributary exit it disappears. Similar situation in the collector canyon: first part is dry, but water (more abundant) appears again at the water works. Rather small water catchment area. The canyon depends on rain and subterranean reserves, but flows minimal long after rain has fallen.
