Oben angekommen, einem deutlichen Pfad absteigend nach links zum Einstieg vom Canyon de Notre-Dame folgen, dann nocheinmal aufstiegend über einen Bergrücken ins Tal des Rious absteigen (45min)
Alternativ kann man auch auch durch Moustiers wandern und erst den Bach aus dem Canyon de Notre-Dame, dann den Abfluss des Riou (Ausstieg) überqueren. Man nimmt nun den Weg mit den gelben Markierungen rechts hinauf. An einer Verzweigung hält man sich rechts und kommt durch den Wald bergan auf einen Höhenrücken. Jenseits geht es in östlicher Richtung leicht bergab, um dann rechts hinunterzuhalten zu den Wiesenflächen am Bach kurz vor dessen Eintritt in die Felsenenge. Zustiegszeit ca. 75 Min.
The fastest access route follows the tourist crowds to just before the Chapelle Notre-Dame de Beauvoir. Here, follow the clear tracks to the Canyon de Notre-Dame, cross it and climb up the other side in steep, rocky hairpin bends to the plateau. Once at the top, follow a clear path descending to the left to the entry of the Canyon de Notre-Dame, then ascend again over a ridge into the Rious valley (45 min)
Alternatively, you can also hike through Moustiers and first cross the stream from the Canyon de Notre-Dame, then the outflow of the Riou (exit). Now take the path with the yellow markings up to the right. At a fork, keep right and continue uphill through the forest to a ridge. On the other side, the trail descends slightly to the east and then bears right down to the meadows by the stream shortly before it enters the rocky narrows. Approach time approx. 75 min.

It makes sense to break the 60 m rappel (10 m + 50 m) for better rope retrival, especially as you can stand comfortably on a flat ledge before the 50 m section. On the following 40 m rappel, you can slide from the cut rope into the pool (approx. 10 m is possible without any problems).

Als letzte Gruppe von vielen des heutigen Tages eingestiegen, deshalb trübes Wasser. Die Klamm ist sonst schön, Engstellen und hohe Wasserfälle. Die kleineren Stufen sind oft mit Knotenseilen bestückt, die hohen Wasserfälle sind perfekt eingerichtet. Wir sind am 60m Fall auf eine französische Gruppe aufgelaufen, konnten aber problemlos über den Zwischenstand rechts abseilen, währenddessen die Franzosen den Zwischenstand links genommen haben.
The last group of many to enter today, hence the murky water. The gorge is otherwise beautiful, narrow sections and high waterfalls. The smaller steps are often equipped with knot ropes, the high waterfalls are perfectly set up. We ran into a French group at the 60m drop, but were able to rappel easily via the intermediate pitch on the right, while the French took the intermediate pitch on the left.

Bien tourner à droite au premier gros cairn en arrivant sur le plateau pour éviter la partie amont où l'eau coule mais où le progression est difficile à cause d'une végétation abondante et touffue.Le reste du canyon est sec, la combinaison n'est pas nécessaire. La vasque en bas de la C40 est bien croupie et habitée par un serpent. Approche : on s’est garées autour de l’épingle (43.84993, 6.22008). On est remontées jusqu’au niveau de le cascade comme indiqué dans le descriptif, puis on continue le PR pour contourner la falaise jusqu’au point (43.85666, 6.22412). Il y a des cairns sur la droite marquant le départ d’un sentier qu’on descend jusqu’à atteindre le pré. Nous sommes entrées dans le lit de la rivière au plus évident mais finalement on a fait les sangliers, beaucoup de branchages etc. A posteriori on a vu une corde fixe qui permettait de descendre plus loin dans le canyon, et qui doit pouvoir se récupérer directement au bout du pré à droite en arrivant !Descente : 2h30-45 de descente à deux dans un débit tranquille mais avec de l’eau tout le long de la descente et les vasques remplies à ras bord. RAS équipement. Attention un oiseau niché au niveau des premières petites cascades dans l’étroiture. RAS pour la C55 qu’il faut débrayer car frottement. Idem C45.Retour : on sort au niveau du village, donc RAS !

Le Riou coule bien mais je m'attendais à un débit plus important au vue des derniers commentaires (voir photo de la C40).Plusieurs cordes à nœuds sont en place dans la première partie donc ça déroule bien.Il n'y a pas de corde installée au pied de la C18.En partant à 12h de la prairie, nous avons terminé la grande cascade au soleil.Amarrages ok mais généralement des points non reliés.
