Coming from Santander on the highway, 12 km after San Vicente we turn onto the AS 114 leading to Arenas de Cabrales and the Cares canyons. After about 20 km we reach Trescares, driving up the Rio Cares. A few hundred meters after the village we park the car in a bay above the Romanesque arch bridge 'Puente la Vidre'.

Cross the bridge (fancy a high jump?) and head uphill to the left for a few meters; the path then continues at roughly the same height along the slope above the Rio Cares. At a fork to the right, continue straight on until you reach a house where the Trescares comes down from the right. We change direction 90 degrees to the right and ascend above the stream. Cross the 'Puente de Madera' to get to the orographic right side of the stream. We continue upwards until we leave the path to the right on clear footprints and cross the slope only slightly ascending to the entry into the Trescares. This is fed here by a spring - Fuente Recuencu. .fed by a spring

Le canyon est assez arrosé, sans problème pour des adultes encadrés. Un guide local nous a averti que les parties sup et moyennes sont définitivement fermées sous peine d'amendes salées...
